PANDORA RADIO vs. PLUTO RADIO..,

PANDORA  -  "It's a new kind of radio - stations that play ONLY MUSIC YOU LIKE."  http://www.pandora.com/  "The Music Genome Project directly in your hands."  If all you want is to listen to music that shifts within two degrees of what you know, then, by all means...  Pandora is it!   If you want to put Jimmy Page's name into the upstart and listen to a lifetime of music/musicians that basically humped Jimmy's leg forever and a day, then, by all means load out of PLUTO RADIO right now and hit that PANDORA BUTTON.  Truth is, I've actually got no kick on Pandora, and have only to say that if you just want to swim in a cloud of - familiar - a virtual guar·an·tee that you will feel related to what's going on with your ears, then, yes, by all means HIT THE PANDORA BUTTON  -  go now....   BYE BYE!

We do radio which means we program our vibe and we interject upon it with talking, half thinking, humans..  And I would also note - we play music from those who deserve to be heard! (page #3 of our website) We're not for everyone, admittedly, however, it looks like Pandora is, which, in my less than humble opinion should scare the *** out of anyone who listens to it.  And, of course, more importantly, I thank everyone with the stamina to listen to me/us here at PLUTO RADIO... I've been told we're not the only internet radio station out there.., I say that remains to be seen.

My best from the great American desert.

"My guitar has a window seat..." Sean Kershaw hittin' it on the stream...

As anyone who listens to PLUTO RADIO knows we are diverse bitches.  We seem to think that a thoughtful blend makes for finer sippin' whiskey....   With all that said, one of our favorite country cross-overs performers here on Pluto Radio is East Coast rocker SEAN KERSHAW.  Sean was nice enough to forward us a copy of his CD Coney Island Cowboy w/ permission for use, from which we have utilized a couple darlings well suited for our stream here at the station (Woke Up Dead, and Get Real Gone).

Lucid Culture shares some great insight about Sean @ Lucid Culture  According to CD UNIVERSE "Sean Kershaw & the New Jack Ramblers, purveyors of hi-octane honky tonk and long recognized as the hardest working band in Brooklyn, have just released their long-awaited debut CD "Coney Island Cowboy" and are ready to take on the world."  -  Kershaw led a fiery rockabilly band, the Blind Pharaohs back in the 90s and early zeros.

To quote the opening lyric of Sean's song WOKE UP DEAD, "My guitar has a window seat / My saucer flies towards the hidden east / In a class A section of a spaceship Earth I give it all for what it's worth / I woke up dead and now I'm on my way."   Personally, I dig Mr. Kershaw's straight forward play meshed w/ his clever lyrics.  He makes it stylish to cowboy up  -  diverse and eclectic as we ride it electric here at Pluto Radio...  We dig the vibe!  Sean Kershaw and the New Jack Ramblers are a welcome addition to our commercial free radio stream.

Pluto Radio is an advocate for support of Sean Kershaw.  http://www.seankershaw.com/
Sean and his band throw down righteous..!

MichiganBands.com (yes, praise of recording artist John Ludi)

John LudiJohn Ludi allows us to use his material on our eclectic musician minded radio stream...  Pluto Radio is a rock, blues, trip-hop, alternative country cross over, electric cowboy hippie thing, plutoradio.com.

Feedback from our listeners indicate John Ludi's music is lyrical, intelligent, insightful as well as melodic.  Between the Quiet Earth Orchestra and music that he has produced under his own name, and/or The Soft war, Mr. Ludi's music has helped us build an interesting international fan base with a true appreciation for the many cross-over musical styles which are commonly associated with rock and roll.  I've been quoted as saying John Ludi has Bowie's voice - only better.  His voice, along with the musical insight of any memorable early 70's progressive rocker, gives Mr. Ludi's music (and words) a understated ying/yang eloquence which tends to reveal the fragility of the human heart along with the hidden character of our souls.

Pluto Radio is an advocate of the unsung musician, therefore, we suggest that anyone who enjoys progressive, lyrical vibe look John up and give his sound a listen…  John Ludi at johnludi.com  Good to see Mr. Ludi on this website, Michigan Bands freakin' rock!

"I was taking notes at a fantastic rock-n-roll concert going on in my head" - Jim Morrison

Fans of the station often ask me where I came up with the idea for Pluto Radio.  Although the following statements are not the only thoughts put into the making of this commercial free radio stream, they do address the core essential beginning of Pluto Radio.

So...  I ended up in Los Angeles one night - not so long ago.  Hiding out from the ever present elements of the evil eyeball (the government).., or a groupie.., or stalker Kimmy or something...  And I ended up with a buddy of mine who was shooting video of hip hop artist TITO CALLOWAY at a music club in Venice.  And so I sat through, like, 3 or 4 bands waiting for Calloway to take the stage.  There was an acoustic punk band, followed by an alternative rock group with an accordion, followed by a chick who sang songs in French (don't have any idea what she was singing about, but she looked sexy and was pleasant on the ol' temporal bone), and I remember thinking "how is it that all these different artists blend so well together...?"  Then came Mr. Calloway and his live crew and they rocked the joint hard.  Calloway had two hot chick singers (one by the name of Chuck - love you Chuck!) fronting with him that night, along with a hot hendrixesque lady guitar player, grunge bass & drums, and a keyboardist with arrangements straight from Leon Russell's fingertips.  Calloway and his crew destroyed the joint! (info - TITO CALLOWAY  http://titocalloway.com/fr_home.cfm)

Making my way up to Red Mountain the next day I couldn't help but think about the eclectic mix of music I had experienced the night before, and I thought about all the music I like, and, somewhere between those two considerations I came up with the idea of Pluto Radio.

That's it for now,  My best from the great American desert.

Germany's Alternative / Pop / Rockers DEAR WOLF deserve to be heard!

DEAR WOLF are perfect for airplay here at Pluto Radio and an inspiration for anyone interested in being involved with a contemporary vibe or sound! Pretty much the following quote from Dear Wolf's myspace page sums this band's rather unique qualities.

THE FOLLOWING IS A PORTION OF INFORMATION FOUND ON DEAR WOLF AT THIER MYSPACE. "For some time in the 90s, DEAR WOLF have been a well-known part oft the German alternative music scene. With their fifth studio album "The Falldownstandup" once more they present their impressive musical skills. A voice with a creepy Glenn Danzig vibe, accompanied by a heavy bass guitar, euphoric choruses, plain melancholy and a few surprising elements - already the first time you listen to this record, you will be enchanted by these catchy tunes. DEAR WOLF are compareable to bands like PLEASURE FOREVER and MADRUGADA, if you wish to pigeonhole them. But, after all, DEAR WOLF have been inspired by such a wide range of artists that they pretty much developed their own style over the years. Rather than only writing "simple" songs, DEAR WOLF are storystellers like JOHNNY CASH, JOE STRUMMER and NICK CAVE, their songs haunt you"

PLUTO RADIO is an advocate for support of this amazing band.
I LOVE THESE GUYS!

Dig the new PLUTO RADIO site!

Setting up a new more user friendly site for Pluto Radio... All the information's here. PAGE #3 with band links can be found on the right section of this page just below the description of THE PLUTO RADIO STREAM (Click and you shall receive). Also, please note, just as on the original site we have a Shoutcast control as well as a Flash audio control. Both stream Pluto Radio, however, keep in mind that the Shoutcast stream is the one that comes up with the webpage. If you encounter any problems with the Shoutcast stream you can simply open the Flash audio stream and it will tune you into the same musical vibe beamed straight to planet Earth from the strange outer regions of the universe - planet Pluto.

(if you'd rather use our Flash audio stream simply click the Shoutcast stream off and the click the Flash audio box.)

Oh yea, at least for now there is no longer a page #2. I think sometime in the not-too-distant future we will no doubt add a page #2 back into the site, but, for now you'll just have to deal with our front page and band/artist's link page. Good luck with that.

WHAT THE PROVERBIAL " F " IS PLUTO RADIO?

SEVERAL QUOTES FOR THE PROGRAMING DIRECTOR AT PLUTO RADIO.

"I am neither rebel nor visionary, rather, I am a simple, non-conforming peg in the circle and square pegboard that comprises the contemporary American landscape. Often, I have felt like a great lost ghost on this planet.., both overlooked and unheard. So when I was approached by Pluto Radio to assist in the development of the musical programing here at the station I felt compelled to shine a brilliant neon light on behalf of the multitude of the unsung, unknown voices yearning to be heard.... Therefore, I share the music and songs of these many talented players who struggle to rise above the din of the ordinary happy noise of the day. It's my opinion that these unappreciated creative beasts deserve success as much as anyone - so open your gawddamn ears and give 'em a listen!"

"Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones don't need our help with being heard, so fuck 'em, we'll let everyone else play the already famous and just bang out our own brand of noise."

(From an email to a friend) "With that said..., I'm putting together an eclectic music show with an alternative rock, alternative country, prog, trip hop, blues and electric hippie thing going on. I would love to use any of your music. Would that be okay? I expect a very small following. It's a non commercial, free form style of programing with a bit of weirdness and fun thrown in... No intention of being socially relevant, just want to show the talents of those who aren't being considered within mainstream thought. Jump in brother and let's see where it all goes."
