Zelazowa, a Pluto Radio favorite

ZELAZOWA

Philadelphia, PA
Rock / Alternative

Play Songs »   Share Songs »   Exclusive Music »   Visit Profile »

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since the four of us became ZELAZOWA. 10 glorious years of traveling the world, playing music with your three best friends and making thousands of new friends along the way. It doesn't get much better than that.

It's also hard to believe that Kyle is turning 30 years old on November 21st! Wow, I mean...wow is he old.

So...in celebration of these two monumentous events, the four of us would like to invite you to the first ZELAZOWA show in a long long while. It will be a night of big fun at our hometown venue in West Chester, PA, a night that none of us want to miss. Songs will be played, drinks will be had, and old friends will reunite.

Please join us on Saturday, November 23rd at 8 PM at The Note. The show is 21+ and we will be joined on the bill by our friends Murph, Penrose, and Grip of the Gods. Tickets are $11 in advance and $14 at the door.

We are excited to see you all!

Marble Sheep on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream .

MARBLE SHEEP were founded in 1987 by Ken Matsutani(ex WHITE HEAVEN). First the band started its musical activity under the name of "MARBLE SHEEP & THE RUN-DOWN SUN'S CHILDREN." The good old MARBLE SHEEP passed through many styles of psychedila like Minimal Music, Heavy Rock and S.F. Jam Psych as both band and music continued to evolve.

The name MARBLE SHEEP is highly esteemed overseas as a fixture of the Japanese rock scene since early times.  MARBLE SHEEP started their real overseas activity from 2002. They obtained overseas record company deals too and had many live shows in USA and Europe. In contrast with the long history of the band, MARBLE SHEEP are described as "Merry Pranksters of the 21st Century." This can be attributed to the merry and energetic live performances which can flip out even full-grown-ups while taking listeners to the Space World easily.

So, eternal 21st Century boys & girls, We wanna be your SNAPPY TOYS!!!! (as compiled on the bands website).

We've also reached the end of an era, with CKG keyboardist Maxwell Butler headed to Los Angeles to play with the up and comin Patrick Droney. CKG will continue, at this point as more of a recording project than a gigging entity. Max, you are one of the greatest musicians I have ever met. Good luck, and do one for all of us.

Thanks for listening,

Papa I'm packing-up all my clothes  ...and my ol' guitar
Papa ...I'm mo' leave this town

I'm a Bluesman  ...people can't ya' see I do a blues thang?

I make my livin'  ...on the Blues Highway
A different juke-joint every night ya'll  ...a different casino everyday

Don't ya' see me rollin'  ...down Highway 61?
Leavin' Natchez, Mississippi  ...on my way to Tunica

I'm a Bluesman  ...that's all I am
I'm a Bluesman  ...people can't ya' see?  ...I do a blues thang

Airplanes and highways  ...that's all I know
I can't take a freight train  ...cause it moves too slow
And I got thangs to do baby

I'm a Bluesman  ...that's what I am
I'm a Bluesman  ...tryin' to tell ya'  ...I do a blues thang

Stone Cold Boys on Pluto Radio

Stone Cold Boys is a Russian band, founded in 2007 in Moscow. The band's recognizable mark is style-mixing, though originally they belong to the first stoner-rock wave in Russia, with such bands as Cactus Jumper and Evil Cosmonaut. Being interested mostly in 60-70's and 90's, the musicians produce riff-based compositions, throwing grunge, blues, jazz and hardcore in one melting pot. That caused some cold welcome from conservative stoner-listeners and, at the same time, the recognition from the fans of the styles mentioned above. As for themselves, Stanislav, Pavel, Ivan and Eugene never tried to be the part of some specific musical society. Their love for stoner culture and music is neighboring with their love to some crude humor, boogie-dancing, psychadelic trips and tons of self-irony. (as compiled on the bands website)

White Shag

Imagine Janis Joplin possessed by Iggy Pop's soul and returning from the dead to front the freak love child of the Rolling Stones, Queens of the Stone Age and the MC5. That is White Shag. White Shag is high energy, female fronted, passionate rock with airs of Jimi Hendrix and Cream on electric guitar and a heavy handed and very primal John Bonham banging on drums. You have to see it to believe it. No videos or recordings do a live show justice and even then, you still can't believe it. White Shag currently parades in the depths of the Detroit metro area. Nicki Bluhm on Pluto Radio

Upon hearing the unique and refreshing sound of Nicki Bluhm, it becomes immediately clear why she is in the midst of a breakout year. Nicki has filled a void in music with her brand of vintage-tinged rocking country soul -- music that's like an enchanting friend you've known for a short while but feels like you've known forever.

Nicki's story began at a New Year's Eve party when she sang an impromptu blues song that caught the attention of musician/producer Tim Bluhm (The Mother Hips). With Tim's encouragement Nicki began to write songs and perform in public, and soon was earning fans of her own. They went on to record Nicki's debut album, Toby's Song (2008), which appeared on Jambase's top ten albums of the year. Nicki and Tim were married shortly after and formed her band with childhood friend and guitar player, Deren Ney. The band continued to grow with the addition of Steve Adams on bass (ALO), Dave Mulligan on rhythm guitar and drummer Mike Curry. Nicki has since shared the stage with Chris Robinson, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Steve Kimock, Jackie Greene, Pegi Young, Josh Ritter, and many others. Slow Motion Centerfold on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream

A Rock Band from Nashville, TN comprised of four best friends from childhood (two of whom are brothers) plus a Tyson Beckfordish dude that wails in on drums, their energy is as explosive as their songs are melodious.

Pulling from a variety of influences, Slow Motion Centerfold's songs roll along with impressive guitar riffs, barroom piano parts, rhythmic drums and keyboard lines equally at home on a Prince or Cure tune. The band's influences are so broad they are hard to pin down musically. Guitar rock revisionists? Keyboard pop song deconstructionists? SMC can play in a lot of different keys. But whatever you want to call the sound, the band brings an intensity to their live shows, driven largely by front man Alex Hall's high wire antics. (as compiled on the bands website)

Ben Foster

I started writing and performing acoustically after the collapse of an old band and the difficulties in starting up a new one. I generally play a lot of quite laid back, folk rock stuff with a lot of influences from singer-songwriters from the 60's and 70's; Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits in particular. I like to build music out of simple chords and then working them until something sounds alright, and I do like to through in some harmonica here and there when it takes my fancy. I'm a little bit of a country bum in a way, having lived in a small village in Oxfordshire most of my life, and I feel this influences how I write, slowing down my pace a little. I am currently recording fairly often whilst looking for plenty of gigs in the coming months...as compiled on the bands website)

Earlstown Winter

Vancouver folk-country artists Earlstown Winter released their five-track EP, which plays much in the same vein of local group Eldorado with their brand of sweet-loving country music. The opening track, “Porch Lights”, is a slow burning moody ballad about lost love. It has a gentle, rolling, organic feel that is a perfect introduction to the band. Porch Lights is a very laidback affair. Each song is stripped back in terms of sound, but they don’t suffer for it. Singer-songwriter Jonathan Truefitt makes it all worth listening to. Truefitt has such a unique voice that one must hear to believe, as nothing is really comparable to it.  (as compiled on the bands website)

The Feens

Originating from Hamburg Pennsylvania, TheFeens started when four musicians got together after playing with individually successful projects. They have very diverse backgrounds which contribute greatly to their purist rock and roll sound.

Think of 1972, Quentin Tarantino and muscle cars encompassed with the musical backdrop of these guys. The riffs they create growl, steaming with an undercurren
t of bottom end ferocity. TheFeens take rock and roll to contemporary levels, yet still stay true to the classics. The band is in it's infancy, only 8 months old, yet has recieved gig spots with some of the countries hot acts.
Currently, they are packing local venues and creating a buzz on the internet. Due to their viral marketing campaigns and social media networking, they have attracted, in only six months, a whopping 12,000+ friends on Myspace. They have reached number One on Reverbnation local charts and recently have opened for KISS at Hershey Stadium. (as compiled on the bands website)

Owen Temple on Pluto Radio ..

OWEN TEMPLE
DOLLARS AND DIMES
North America is many different places. Of course, there are different states and different provinces, but that’s not really where the big differences happen. The really fundamental distinctions happen between the different regions.
Photo of Owen Temple
One great thing about my job is I get to travel. Mostly on the highways, and frequently from one end of the country to the other. When I get to see how the different regions fit together, how they unroll from end to end, that’s the most interesting travel. Occasionally, if the booking agent is sadistic enough (or optimistic enough?), I get to see three or four different regions in three or four days.
I’ve been traveling, playing gigs, and making records for twelve years. The place where this started for me was Austin, playing at a dark wooden barroom downtown called O Henry’s Back Forty (now the site of the downtown Hilton). I’ve worked different jobs, lived in Houston, Dallas, New York, and Madison, Wisconsin, and made good friends in all those places.
A fellow traveler and songwriter, Brian Rung,  (per Mr. Temple's website.. http://www.myspace.com/owentemple)
