Timecode Alpha - Freakshow!

.... Timecode Alpha.

Founder member Peter Lazar has been composing songs for many years. Ranging from 70's flavoured symphonic-melodic rock in the vein of classic Yes, to, let's say, what fellow Swedes Pain of Salvation are now doing in the prog-metal genre of today.

Coming across Mads Claussen (Biscaya, Empire) to help out with lead vocals, also meant getting encouragement to present the demos on MySpace. An absolutely overwhelming result with a million plus visitors just craved for action in finally forming a band and produce an album.

Bringing in bassplayer Ken Sandin (Alien, DaVinci, Kee Marcello's K2),completed the main core of the Timecode project and plans for the procedure of the album were drawn up.

The working title Freakshow was released in April 2009.

Some very talented session musicians are contributing to the recordings. Drummers Svetlan Råket and Anders Josefsson, lead guitarists Mattias Moberg and Johan Randén etc.

Winter's Thrall

You are either growing or dying.
There is no in between.

Most of us are in the thrall of Winter. There is coming though, an infinite Spring. We feel the cruel claws of Winter all the more intensely because of our nascent awareness of it; but in the depth of the cold night, when you are chilled to the core of your being, the inevitable, warm wind of tomorrow seems a million years away.

Let the music into your ears, and it will make its way into your soul. There, it will crystallize all your hurt and fear. In the bright flame of your consciousness, you will melt it away. All the things which you once knew, when time did not exist, shall be again. For they are the truth. The knowledge of fire is yours, you have but forgotten it for a moment.

What does this mean? The question determines the answer. Everything is within your power (as compiled on this bands website).

Your cave is haunted! Very creepy and bone chilling things have been happening around here (and as you probably know Jack is not much of a guard burrow). If you won’t be coming home soon, maybe you can send Sarge Colman over to help us defend your cave - I hear he is really good at off-ing aliens with beer bottle tops.

Jack and I love it when you play Winter's Thrall - thanks for adding them to the petting zoo you call Pluto Radio..!

See you soon!

STONE COLD BOYS on the Pluto Radio stream...!

I JUST LOVE THESE GUYS... (LEE-

The Stone Cold Boys is a russian band, founded in 2007 in Moscow. The band's recognizable mark is style-mixing, though originally they belong to the first stoner-rock wave in Russia, with such bands as Cactus Jumper and Evil Cosmonaut. Being interested mostly in 60-70's and 90's, the musicians produce riff-based compositions, throwing grunge, blues, jazz and hardcore in one melting pot. That caused some cold welcome from conservative stoner-listeners and, at the same time, the recognition from the fans of the styles mentioned above. As for themselves, Stanislav, Pavel, Ivan and Eugene never tried to be the part of some specific musical society. Their love for stoner culture and music is neighbouring with their love to some crude humor, boogie-dancing, psychodelic trips and tons of self-irony. Jewish cowboys make friends with Egyptian mummies and Action Heroes, concerning their songs' lyrics. From being serious to being hularious — and don't forget to dance! The band has already gathered some positive reviews from russian musical press and published their first album «Just a Fish» in December 2009. April 22 2010 is the date of the latest SCB's release, EP «Fuss for the Housewives» (available for free on the band's site http://www.myspace.com/stonecoldboys).

Thomas Trapp - Musician, Story Teller

Lee-
I’m thinking I need to locate Thomas Trapp in order to find you!  I love him on Pluto - plus he is an amazing musician. Jack loves it when you play Tom‘s ‘Freedom of Speech‘ as you know how much he likes to chatter….

SK-

As stated in his own words:

I love making music, listening to music and even criticizing music. Everybody has their thing. I never really liked following structure or standards but still find I always do, some how. I was co-founder of Headtrap Music in San Diego and proud to say Mike Head was the best choice for partner. I have been solo for about 12 years now. I travel at the drop of a hat and when I feel it..I travel like a gypsy to the next place. No ties that bind me. Current place puts me in North Texas with a few like minded friends but still foot loose. My dreams are realized when I see other people, I've had a chance to cross paths with, do something amazing. It happens all the time, in fact when I was like 16 I had a Soothe Sayer tell me my destiny was to be the direction inspiration for other like minded peoples success. She must of imprinted my thoughts cause that's what I strive for. Most of my songs have been for solicitation to other bands and movie projects over the past 12 years. Nothing has really stuck since the 80's but I still have a great time playing and writing. I have a singer, Jason Laughlin, I'm trying to get to the next level. I got some new, clean, equipment and once Jas sets off I think we should have some good songs. My Bio should include a bunch of stars but I don't have a need for name dropping anymore. Most of my past has been told enough times. My ultimate dream now is to retire playing honky tonks and little bar gigs every night without playing covers while telling my story's and having a good time.

Having Mr. Trapp on our stream is a fantastic plus...!  (Lee-

Gothic / Alternative / Trip Hop

Neurotic, Impulsive, Naive, Manic, Sensitive, Unstable, Eccentric

For these emotional states is the music of the band from Krefeld, Germany-Papercuts, the elements of gothic rock, trip hop and alternative sound mixes. The band name, a play on "paper cuts" and "pay-per-cuts," symbolizes all the injuries that one experiences in life. Painful and annoying like paper cuts, some left their scars for ever. This led to the whole concept of the band and runs through text, music, artwork and band outfit. Date founded in 2006 by Nihil Pale and Violett Eve and as a project to process their own emotional conflicts musically, it grew over time grew into a real band and was completed in 2007 with guitarist Constantine in the line-up of the band in early 2010.

The present E.P. "Sick Soul" was recorded in late summer 2009 with mature songwriting, clever dynamic changes and new style elements. The title of the E.P. says it all: fat and weird riffs alternate with melancholic lead guitar, accompanied by a gloomy bass and wild drums. Hypnotic samples and gothic keyboards provide a constant up and down in all 6 songs. They know perfectly how their audience suffers (as presented on the bands web page).
Lee- I am dedicating this bands song 'Stay Away' to Jack - he won't stop following me!  When are you coming back to your cave?

ZZG on the stream @ Pluto Radio...!

ZZG was formed in 2007 when Guitarist Daniel Roberts and Bassist Keith Matthews formed a band that reflected the heyday of late 60's and early 70's hard rock. "We wanted to write guitar and bass hooks that people would still have stuck in their heads hours and hours after hearing the music. The riffs of Deep Purple were our benchmark". After a few false starts and lots of writing drummer Craig Birnie joined the band. Dan took on the role of singer/guitarist but an element was still missing. Finally Stu Mitchell joined the band bringing modern tones. Stu balanced the old world rock feel with his own unique guitar sound. The ZZG band sound was complete. After refining the first collection of songs the band went offline to record with "Trapped in The Mirror" completed early 2010. In May 2010, ZZG joined UK publicist Nicky Baldrian from Two Side Moon Promotions to promote "Trapped in the Mirror" in the UK and Western Europe. The band is now playing live regularly and is writing again. The first new songs Red Dawn" and "California rolling" are complete with more being arranged right now. A second album is planned for early 2011. (as compiled on the band's webpage)

Let me just say - PROZAC NATION SAYS IT ALL!  (Lee-

The Woodsmen - Folk Rock / Rockabilly / Rock

Ink-black and spidery rhythms
Bring your prettiest dresses and your shiniest shoes to the wake, and we’ll bring the whiskey and the fire, and we’ll dance and we’ll throw it all on the burning funeral pyre…

Drowned sailors reels, skeletal country ballads, jangling gypsy blues and shotgun madrigals, (as compiled on the bands website) The Woodsmen invoke a soundtrack to Ophelia’s drowning, the sinking of the Lusitania, the battle of the Atlantic, the fall of the Roman Empire, the siege of Masada, the assassination of Jesse James, the burning of Joan of Arc, the Paris commune, the tragic deaths of Hank Sr and John the Revelator , a Venetian Carnivale, the funeral of the romantic era, the birth of the decadent, the bacchanal, the saturnalia, and raise the spectres of undead cowboys, drowned lovers, Django and Strummer, Cash and Cave, Blake and Baudela.

PAUL E. PHONICS DEBUT E.P. "SHOCK & AWE" OUT NOW!

THE HOME OF PAUL E. PHONICS & FINE PRINT PARIAH

PictureAn extreme D.I.Y. label for an extreme D.I.Y. musician with a split personality.  On the one side is
PictureFine Print Pariah creating alternative rock with a dark edge and a slightly dramatic touch.  On the
other side is Paul E. Phonics producing ambient, experimental post-rock, a singer/songwriter for
the 21st century.  And in the middle is 5th Estate Music, the fulcrum in this precarious balancing
act and the place where all of the non-artistic things take place.  If it has to do with booking,
licensing, manufacturing, distribution or media relations, this is where it happens.

THE GRAND ASTORIA on Pluto Radio....!

Saint PetersburgRussian Federation (2009 – present)
The name of this band - The Grand Astoria - comes from a famous hotel in their hometown of Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, built in 1912 and then renovated in 1991. Those dates alone give us a snapshot of the building’s cultural significance. As one of the city’s most famous hotels, it was designed as a final expression of pre-Soviet grandeur, and would - decades later - benefit almost immediately from an huge injection of post-Soviet wealth. In between these two dates and events, one of the world’s most powerful and restrictive regimes both rose and fell. Somehow the Astoria kept standing.  (as complied on the band's webpage. http://www.last.fm/music/The+Grand+Astoria

The Black Beards - Rock It!

The Black Beards are back, and rock more than ever! The bands first album “Rock and Roll” won prestigious criticism from the press and a full tour of concerts across the Balearic Islands, Spain. The following is as compiled at this bands website, (interpreted from Spanish): The Beards rock and roll again with a new album under their arms: ‘Southern Accents for a Rock Generation’. Crisp and sharp guitars, a powerful rhythm section, harmonicas, slide and Hammond, and words about life that spring from a young but hardened throat, all forming the distinctive elements of sound that exudes the aroma of genuine inspiration by growing up listening to bands like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes, Rolling Stones, Johnny Winter, Diamond Dogs (David Bowie), AC / DC, Jimmy Hendrix and many others.

SUGAR FROM SOUL on Pluto Radio

Soul music from Sugar can be found, among other things between earthy blues-rock and the energetic aspects of theIndie.Occasionally feeling fuller sounds blend harmoniously in a diverse range of a vibrant, danceable songs.

Sometimes delicate, sometimes powerful guitar sounds are carried by a single-minded, not restrained bass - the whole is on a solid foundation of pounding drums which will provide more than just the beat.
Any friend, hand-crafted music with plenty of depth, which also makes a contemporary freshness not miss it, take to heart, visit one of the exciting shows and to get carried along.  (as compiled on the band's webpage)

BLOOD RUBY on the Pluto Radio stream...!

Blood Ruby creates atmospheric alternative music somewhere in the vein of dream pop, ethereal, and neoprogressive rock. The band's two subtly emotive female vocalists ply a range that spans from lyrical, sweet mezzo, to smoky, jazz-rooted alto, delivering haunting melodies and crafted lyrics full of evocative imagery and cinematic storytelling. Spacious mixing and production lend prismatic detail to the music's lush instrumentation. The result is a textured, layered sound that takes listeners on an ambient, often dark, and sometimes epic journey through drifting landscapes of emotion, strange places, and complex characters.  (as compiled on the band's webpage)

Blood Ruby is:
Cynthia Conrad (vocals)
Margaret Browning (vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards)
Thomas Wall (guitar, bass, keyboards, programming, engineering)

"Dexter Jones Circus Orchestra's music withholds hints of Swedish progressive rock combined with  powerful guitar melodies and catchy drums. It stretches itself between  hard driven riffs and acoustic ballads. The band has been compared to  everything from Mammoth Volume and Bob Dylan to Blue Oyster Cult and  Thin Lizzy. Comparisons aside: -This is probably how the 70..s would  sound today. Its a true gem with endless potential!

THE RED PLASTIC BUDDHA on the stream...

The Red Plastic Buddha are a psychedelic pop band from Chicago. Signed to Spade Kitty Records in 2007, they released their first CD, Sunflower Sessions in late September of that same year.  Enthusiastic early reviews have said they sound 'Like a Peter Max painting come to life'. The Red Plastic Buddha are a six-piece unit that blends guitars, effects, keyboards and waves of vocal harmony into an every changing wall of melody. The Red Plastic Buddha have filmed two videos, one currently available on YouTube and the second is currently in post-productions.

THE FLYING EYES on the Pluto Radio stream...

"This band would have scored with audiences back in the sixties as well as deserving to be heard in the contemporary...  They have a raw rock 'n roll sound that our listeners often compare to the Doors.   I have featured their music on more than one UNSUNG episode at Pluto Radio!"  (Lee Crisman - program director at plutradio.com)

THE FLYING EYES are always pushing forward to the borders of their creativity. The result is a spirited musical odyssey with rich characters, moods and places all embedded in their music. Since they formed in 2007, the group has played with many esteemed bands such as Witch, Spindrift, Ariel Pink and most recently with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at a SXSW 09’ party hosted by Live Music Capitol. trip pop music w/ HUNGRY LUCY on the stream...

One simple reason why I dig this duo... THEY HAVE FOUND A VOICE OF THEIR OWN AND THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!

Hungry Lucy chillin' out(information compiled from Internet Archive info on Hungry Lucy) To create the music complied for their CD "Pulse of the Earth" Christa Belle and Warren Harrison cast aside all expectations and spent time isolated in the mountains of Tennessee and away from the world - with no outside disturbances the duo were able to ignore trends and dive headlong into the art of storytelling.

I love playing, promoting, and, of course, listening to talented artists like HUNGRY LUCY here on the Pluto Radio stream.  They deserve to be heard.
