Always by his side, Cody is complemented by the fluidly multi-talented song-writer, guitarist, vocalist and pianist, Yigal Cohen. THE BLACK BEARDS - Rock, As It Should Be

In 2005, a small town called Santanyí in the south of the island of Mallorca, was born what would become one of the musical formations calls to revive the spirit of rock from the 70's. Influenced by southern rock groups such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top and The Black Crowes, aside from classics like Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Hendrix or AC / DC among others, The Black Beards has been built up over the years as a band of pure and authentic rock and roll, an American roots rock that draws from the mixing and blending of different musical styles that breathe and live in the territories under the Mason-Dixon line: hard rock, blues and country. In short, what 
has been called Souther Rock.

Thus, from the appearance of his first album "Rock and Roll" (2006), going for his second album "Southern rock accents for a generation" (2008) and reaching the more recent "The great southern road trip" (2010), the evolution of the band, both musically and staff (with input and output of its members), has led to the 
maturation and consolidation in a classic style, but while sounding completely current and a recognizable personality. Batteries and strong bass lines, guitars energetic, crisp and distorted, a powerful voice that speaks sympathetically of those experiences rooted in life. No trap or cardboard.  On the contrary, is the authenticity that occurs when one party does not just play rock, but live their lives in the key of rock, putting his whole soul into each of their songs and performances. The Story of ….The Beat Dolls.
From the ashes of Dallas Punk/Ska band, SkateArounChippy, The Beat Dolls. were born. A Rock n’ Roll band, heavily influenced by Punk Rock, and the slightest hint of Ska, that’s taking Austin and the rest of the world by storm. The Beat Dolls. will assault you with frantic distortion, pleasantly brain staining melodies and lyrics, vocals that conjure up images of a Gwen Stefani/Brody Dalle hybrid, reinforced by the backbone, an unyielding rhythm section that packs a punch that will leave you reeling, well into your drive home. The band name was actually borrowed from a song titled Beat Doll that Angie’s dad, Jack Starr, on Norton Records wrote. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Starr made his mark on the world with fans of Rockabilly and horror movies alike, including Jack White and The Upholsterers who covered Starr’s “Pain (Gimme Sympathy).
The Beat Dolls. began much the same way SkateAroundChippy did, with Ramon writing music and Angie, writing lyrics. Eventually Ramon moved onto his own band, with Ernesto Calderon, drummer for SkateAroundChippy, to form The Scary Mondelos. This left Angie in need of a writer and guitar player, not to mention a bass player, also Ramon’s role, and a drummer. Angie looked no further than in the mirror and her Austin community of musicians. She found a guitar player in herself, a rude thumping bass player in Barry Anderson and a thunder composing drummer in Mike Reisch.
The Beat Dolls. belt out tales of sarcasm, wit, humor, sadness and madness, of which at least one of those every one of us could relate. If you are looking for Britney, Katy or Lady, you are looking in the wrong direction, for The Beat Dolls. sugar coat nothing and you’ll get no apologies here.
But…one may find…that you are not alone and that Angie has articulated what’s been festering in your crazy brain all along.

Richard Stone: Guitar & vocals
Richard started his professional career in Little Royal & the Swingmasters doing soul music on the chitlin' circuit. He moved to Country & Western playing in Tex Rubinowitz & the Casaloma Cowboys. Then hooked up with Hammerin' Hank in Hurricane Dixie, and the Redeemers. Richard's best gig was backing up the legendary Otis Blackwell (songwriter: All Shook Up, Don't Be Cruel, Return to Sender, Great Balls of Fire, etc.) While with Otis, Richard worked with Dale in The Restless Angels, cutting several originals tunes still in the repetoire today.

Hank Burnett: Drums & vocals
Washington D.C. Raised on Wilson Pickett, the Stones, Deep Purple, and Bob Seeger. Some of Hank’s early bands were “God Mother Country” and “The Kid Band.” Hank played in the house band at Millersville Inn (Hurricane Dixie) with Richard, and they later joined up with singer songwriter Mark Mansfield to form the “Redeemers.” Two albums followed. Hank spent some time with the Soul review “The Jim Price Band.” He also played the tux\casino circuit with the “Wild Bunch”.

Dale Shifflett: Bass & vocals
Dale cut his teeth with Cashmere, a versatile group playing rock-n-roll, country, and jazz, who backed up "The Platters". Dale was also in one of the Baltimore/DC area's top country bands called Pryzm, an energetic country band with a major kick. Pryzm won the MD State Fair/WPOC battle of the bands. They performed as the opening act for Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Lionel Cartwright, and Charlie Pride. Later, Dale met Hank & Richard at Millersville Inn during their Hurricane Dixie days. Many nights were spent in recording studios trying new sounds & musical concepts.
