HUMAN CYCLE on Pluto Radio

HUMAN CYCLEHuman Cycle began their cultural and musical performance in the year 2004. Influenced  by  different  styles  of  musical  and  cultural matrix, the members  of  the  group found in the heart of the band, a balance between rock with a touch of soul (soul rock) and electronic rhythms.  Lyrics  are  key  elements  in the life of the group, since the different social, cultural and philosophical realities in which we are living, are revealed through their texts. The  songs  of  Human  Cycle expose a variety of social and philosophical issues that concern people and society in general.  After  many concerts in several stages and the commitment  over  the last 2 years, the outcome has arrived and the third record of the band will be released under the name "Lead the Way". Band  members  have  jazz  lessons  with two of the best Jazz teachers in Portugal: Carlos Mendes (guitar) and Kiko (vocals).  The  first  record  sold out the first edition in two months and also the second record sold 1.000 copies in the first week. (as compiled on the band's website)  more info @ http://www.reverbnation.com/humancycle

FEELS LIKE FRIDAY - Just Groovin' Along

Feels Like Friday is a Southern California based group fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist, Tom Courser. Produced by Guy Eckstine, Feels Like Friday's debut recording, ‘We Like Supermodels‘, showcases 12 blistering and rockin’ alternative pop/rock songs, that incorporate high energy drums and guitars, with a melodic pop sensibility. The resulting mix of vocal harmony and songwriting craftiness, puts Feels Like Friday on familiar but fresh ground. Reminiscent of The Smiths, David Bowie, and The Cure.

From the opening riff of, “Been Away For A While”, vaguely reminiscent of Pink Floyd and The Beatles, the listener is immediately caught in rapt attention, grooving along to the strong backbeat and three part vocal harmonies, willingly drawn in to something special. Followed by the pulsating uptempo groove of, “See Who I’ll Be Again”, which scores big with a strong mélange of bitter and sweet melodic and lyrical content, disguised as Power Pop at its’ finest. The songs are extremely well put together, with constant motion, tension and release. Unexpected twists and turns appear very nonchalantly, showing the grace and ease of Courser's songwriting, guitar and vocal abilities (as stated on their website).

The Artwork of Ken Keegan

Ken Keegan shares a display of his artwork for the Pluto Radio family to check out. He is in the process of sending us a bunch of links we will add on page 3. We appreciate all the great deserving talent.
This stuff reminds me of the old Album cover art which was sooo much better then the pretty faces, posing and photos of bands standing tough in an alley.
Ken does a bit of sculpture work plus other stuff. We will be happy to share the talents as we see and hear um.

GHOSTS OF EDEN - Do You Believe in Ghosts?

The often unholy but beautiful spectre and spirit of Rock N' Roll is alive and well today in Ghosts of Eden. In riff after riff and line after line, these songs live inside and pour out of the souls of this band from the city that never sleeps. Formed in early 2008, the members have all played in various bands in and around New York City. After years of playing in the Staten Island and New Jersey hardcore punk/metal scene, the four friends decided to challenge themselves and their creativity by coming together to form the current lineup that is now Ghosts of Eden. With influences which run the gamut from hardcore and metal to 80s College Rock and 90s alternative, GOE seamlessly combines these seemingly disparate elements with a sound that gives your ear a good swift kick to the backside (as compiled from the bands website).

This is a band playing what they love and loving what they play, not just following banal commercial trends and vogues that are playing elsewhere.

Lee, we just love listening to bands that resist the mainstream and commercial trends!

DREAMKILLERS - Goats are scared, and termites move next door.

Hold on to your seats! Take your loved ones in your arms!  This is not a pretty picture! You asked for it, So they came!

The Dreamkillers are a rehearsed train crash at the wrong junction, with the Gas Clown at the wheel ! Society had hit the wall, great leaders were on their knees. Wonders of the machine age clashed with the new arrivals from the digital arena, from secret corners of the back of the mind...Enter the Dreamkillers. The back catalogue sells for hundreds of dollars with out covers on EBAY (a unique achievement arising from fierce independence). From the west they rode...five completely different horsemen fused at the hip and bonded by the sword...a massive BANG...two consecutive lightning sticks and the reality raced to the starting line (all as stated from their website)

Goats are scared?   Ok, now they have Jack all nervous - I'm working on relaxation techniques with him.  Dreamkillers deserve to be heard!

Anti-m Retro-Techno-Electronic-Symphonic-Goth

Anti-m was formed by Mark Rumer, John (Wedge) Wardlow and Ruston Slager in Santa Barbara, CA.  Portland Oregon guitarist and college friend, Steve (Salty) Weber, was brought in during the final stages of the recording of the bands first album, NO WAVES IN HELL, to play the bulk of the guitars.  The CD was a concept album with a surfing theme and several music videos were made to go along with the music.  This caught the eye of surfing film maker Jimi Berlin who started using songs from Anit-M projects in his films.

During the writing stages of DAMAGE (released in 2008), founding Anti-M member John (Wedge) wardlaw had been listening to metal bands like Disturbed and Godsmack when he discovered a new genre of female fronted goth rock bands (The Gathering, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Evanescence). Wedge and Ruston (Slager) then asked Barbara Moseley, who had been a guest vocalist on the influenced Positive Negative, to join the band and take on the bulk of the lead vocals. Jon Moseley was also asked to join the band on guitars and Derek Poultney on Drums. The result was a mix of styles and influences that created a truly unique sounding album (as compiled from the bands website).

THE PEACH TREE - Dance of Life and Death

This is The Peach Tree, and this is Angus Maiden. It is music that is not easily categorized, yet for those who look at music from more than one angle it is bound to please. By naming the album "The Peach Tree" Angus is making a statement, that what you hear is what the years of exploring the intricate world of music have been all about. About roller-coaster rides through many different styles. About Dark and Light music interwoven yet opposing each other in a delicate dance of Life and Death. About lyrics borne from the subconscious that try to answer the big questions in life, or come across as complete drivel (or highlight the common ground between the two).

After 5 years, 9 LPs, and 4 EPs of free music, Angus Maiden aka. The Peach Tree has released his 10th self-titled concept album through his new net label Tribal Dancing Kid (as stated in their webpage).

Zak Daniels and the One Eyed Snakes - Tender Seduction!

What's in a name? The burgeoning Los Angeles club scene has witnessed the birth of dozens of quality rock bands from the Doors to Guns 'N' Roses, but none quite so humorously defiant as ZAK DANIELS & THE ONE EYED SNAKES.

Long known on the local club circuit as a no nonsense hard rock band, the group has matured considerably since they were hailed as "the next big thing" by local radio and press in the mid nineties. Zak has maintained a philosophical outlook about such hyperbole. "It's been said many times by many people, but there is some truth in the phrase: "Nothing is an overnight sensation," he noted appropriately. After a couple of line-up changes the Snakes have become a permanent musical family. JIMMY (KAT) KATSIKIDES, who co-produced the album with Daniels, brandishes one of the meanest lead guitars in all of rock. The rhythm section consists of DOUG LAVERY on drums and ORION LINDEMANN on bass. Together they anchor a sound that can overwhelm the casual listener or tenderly seduce them.

Lee, did you know these guys came up with their name ‘The One Eyed Snakes’ after scoring a soundtrack for a porn flick? This band deserves to be heard!

A small Blue Planet

After sifting through 8 sentences of notes Emma tossed in the in box one caught my eye. It was the words '50 FOOT WAVE'. So I went on a hunt through the vast informational pool that is the Worm hole of all things known to Earthlings and " Others ".
Much to my chi grin, guess what I found?
Kristin ( with an I ) Hersh. Guitarist and vocalist for 50 FOOT WAVE is also THE Kristin Hersh of my old friends from 'Throwing Muses'...yeah , back in the mid 80's I was a part of a huge musical community of experimental bands of which included "Throwing Muses".
How small a Planet that over 25 years ago I was enjoying the music of and performing along side someone that Plutoradio.com and Lee Crisman's 'Unsung' has been promoting for a while. Now here She remains.
Kristin is an amazing artist today. She still writes , performs, has written about her life difficulties and accomplishments. She is so natural in making art that she gives her music away to anyone who will listen plus she is 100 % Independent.
Kristin is one of a kind. Staying with her independence and not faltering her art for an entire career. Because of her vast influence on freedom of expression and incredible music Poolside Plano will flow ' through the Worm Hole ' with an entire hour of stuff Kristin Hersh....Your going to love this one it will include other amazing parts of the music like Tanya Donelly and other projects.
Eclecticism meets freedom of expression. If young artist like dZ could follow these footsteps the big red cloud flowing toward you neighborhood may not be so horrible.

Listen for " Through the Worm Hole, featuring Kristin Hersh" at Plutoradio.com

Poolside Plano 002 with Mr. Thomas Trapp! Up and running.

Thomas... Brilliant show brother (PP 002)!  Pluto Radio fans have let us know they dig the new deal for you, and, of course I'm a huge advocate of you doing your own thing here.

The new show (Poolside Plano 003) you just did is equally as entertaining!  I especially love the jam poolside with 4 Zeros Records.  Must be nice to be such a talented cat!   Your selection of music is spot on for Poolside Plano, as well as what I'm trying to do with Pluto Radio - love your talk about non-English bands still worth the listen in 003..  Thanks for being such a quick study.  I think with clever, prolific, and of course diligent cats like you on board the station will thrive and people will learn once again how to listen to radio...!  I'll get Poolside Plano 003 up by the end of the week.

TRULY... Thomas, I can't say enough good things about your involvement.  Thanks again from the great American desert...  And, of course thank Emma for keeping you in line.  Lee-

BLACK WYRM SEED - The Great Beyond!

Metal ~ Jazz ~ Psychadelic

Sickened by the sad state of modern mainstream music, the gents from Black Wyrm Seed bartered for a kilo of “magic beans” in a backalley deal somewhere on the South Side of Chicago, and shortly thereafter found themselves in an utterly foreign — and yet strangely inviting — domain. There are some who might refer to the place as “parts unknown”; others might call it “the great beyond”; and its exact coordinates remain unclear. But this much is certain: it lies somewhere between 1966 and the mountains of the moon…and to Black Wyrm Seed, it is now home (as compiled from the bands website).

Ross Meyerson from Loud Loop Press in Chicago writes:
"Black Wyrm Seed’s debut isn’t something you’d put on when you need to get shit done. It’s stoner music for stoners and ex-stoners who like to remember the good old days when getting shit done had no meaning in one’s life. And it’s the perfect soundtrack for that. Black Wyrm Seed are more than comfortable going at their own, sloth-like pace. The fact that it doesn’t get old or drag is a testament to the fact that they write songs – slow as molasses songs – but songs none the less. If that’s your bag, I heavily suggest digging out your old tape deck and finding a bag of Doritos. You’ll thank me."

Who doesn't need stoner music every now and again?  We love these guys at Pluto Radio!

an EMAIL sent to Pluto Radio from Lord Zigmard of Luxembourg.

"Dear Stalker Kimmy.  We understand Lee is a conspiracy nut when not working at Pluto Radio, but it seems that your country's government is attempting to take over the internet in the interest of telling everyone what, and how they should think.  This is sad, because once your leaders begin to deal with freedom ideas on the internet they will be telling us all what to think in the interest of making us all "better citizens of the world".  Why?  The internet works, don't fix it - besides, if my neighbor wants to think about humping his stuffed Barney doll who am I to bother stopping that - I thought you Americans were all about thinking in the free world!  - where the fuck is Oprah on this?!!  I have to agree with Crisman that this will only hasten a new world dominance which will oppress the individual, and, it will oppress all expression of the individual.  Once the Americans do it the other great countries will follow.  I realize Crisman has vowed not to become political on your station.  But what do you think about internet censorship?  I think it's crazy - it will just hand control of our computers to the same zeros that intend to make us all sex slaves to next years fashion, American Idol, and Justin Beiber.  WTF!??   Thank god for Pluto Radio!"

Vita Zane, Lord Zigmard of Luxembourg.

Lord Zigmard's email is relevant for the times in which we are living in...  I have passed his question along to Kimmy and hope to audio post her response on the stream within the week.

SEAN KERSHAW.....Honky Tonk ~ Swing ~ Rockabilly

Sean Kershaw & the New Jack Ramblers, purveyors of hi-octane honky tonk and long recognized as the hardest working band in Brooklyn, have released their long-awaited debut CD “Coney Island Cowboy” and are ready to take on the world.

In the '90s Kershaw fronted  a raveup rockabilly band called the Blind Pharaohs in Brooklyn, NY and in late 2001, started, on a whim and as a side project, Sean Kershaw & the New Jack Ramblers honing their craft playing primarily covers at a weekly residency at Hank’s Saloon (Brooklyn, NY) and at underground loft parties. They continued to perform in and around Brooklyn for the first few years of the bands existence. As recognition of their dedication, musicianship and entertaining live performances spread, the band branched out to other venues in New York City and beyond, with the occasional foray down South or up to New England.

By early 2007 the New Jack Ramblers were Mr. Kershaw’s main band and he had begun writing more original material specifically for the Ramblers. It was during this period also that the press began to take notice, with favorable reviews in TimeOut NY, the NY Times, NY Post, and, yes, Playgirl Magazine. Playgirl chose the original Sean Kershaw composition “Moonlight Eyes” as its Pick of the Month - July 2005 even though it had not been officially released.  More recently the Village Voice featured Mr. Kershaw on the cover of an issue devoted to Brooklyn Country music and it’s resurgence in popularity (as compiled from the bands website).

"Sean Kershaw slinks his strings and vocal chords in such a way that "ladies" in New York clubs go crazy!" - Metromix NY

"Love the great honky tonk swing of this cd. It really swings. Yet the title track Coney Island Cowboy is kinda modern even punk outlaw sounding, great stuff. Love the Trucker and the Tranny and Woke up Dead.” -BRCFP (UK internet radio)

"Rockabilly at it's finest - complete with all the twang and storytelling, Sean Kershaw packs in all the flavor and spice one would expect from a cd titled 'Coney Island Cowboy'!" - Stalker Kimmy, Pluto Radio
