CAPTAIN OBVIOUS - Reaching Euphoria!

Captain Obvious is about some guys, musically connecting to each other and to their audience, trying to overcome limits and to reach a state of trance and euphoria.

We are no Jam Band in a sense of aimless noodling-around, of playing one solo after the next, more so we try to really listen to each other and challenge ourselves to take risks on stage at the cost of perfection. And to just do what feels right musically. At one moment you might hear us play an unexpected cover song or a tightly arranged 2-minute-rocker, the next we might delve into a 15-minute Dub-Electronica-Funk Jam.

You also might hear us try spontaneous chord or rhythm changes on stage which might work and be the coolest thing we ever did.. or also might not. That's basically what The Captain is about. Having a fun time with our audience, taking risks, expressing oneself musically, making interesting music that you can move your body to. About taking it all to the next level. And hoping you will follow us there (as stated in the bands website).

WHITE RABBIT DYNAMITE - Heavy Psychedelic Rock

Since forming out of the dust of Berlins music scene in 2008, white rabbit dynamite present their own type of heavy psychedelic rock.
Influenced by the progressive rock music of the late 60´s and early 70´s, white rabbit dynamite creates with powerful vocals and heavy breezy guitars another kind of retro-inspired progressive rock.
The music of white rabbit dynamite touches people, which are not believing in purposes (as compiled from the bands website).

This is for those, who are still searching for unboundedness!

The Weed - And The Evening Dies

The band “The Weed” was born through a game in June 2002 at an old piggery used as studio on a hill in Piacenza, Italy. From then, its 5 members, who started with the intention of giving life to a stoner rock project, amused themselves by influencing the band’s sound, each drawing on their diverse musical expertise and backgrounds.

In 2003 they recorded “Overview”, their first self-financed demo composed of 7 songs, two of which were published in the following compilations: “Desert Sounds” – a “Wuck Records” production - and “Twenty Two”, produced by the English label “Cork Dog Records”.

The second demo – called “The Weed” – is a 10 song album recorded and produced by the band between 2004 and 2005. Thanks to this, they were offered a distribution contract by the English label “Elfwytch Records”…. unfortunately the label closed down just as the demo neared completion. The Weed had to stop live shows for over an year due to the health issues of the lead vocalist. However, this didn’t stop their creativity: in 2008 they were back on the scene and a new self-made album was ready and fast recorded: “…And the evening dies” ( as compiled from the band‘s website).

DAVID SHEPHERD GROSSMAN - Singer / Songwriter

David calls himself an “Independent Singer Songwriter”. He began performing live and recording his songs when he was 14 years old.

Songwriter’s Monthly called him, “A career artist with a real past, present and future who somehow beat the system by going around it.

David’s life story written by Brian Smith (Beat Angels) - appeared in New York magazine, Feb 2001 available on David’s web page. He has been compared to Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Nanci Griffith, and Bob Dylan by the Arizona Republic, San Francisco Examiner, New York Magazine, and more.

David Shepherd Grossman earns his daily bread as a human jukebox, delivering vocal imitations of his favorite singer-songwriters, such as Tom Waits and Lyle Lovett, as well as crowd-pleasers such as Billy Joel and Elton John. But what folks who stumble into his six-nights-a-week cover gigs rarely realize is that Grossman is an accomplished songwriter in his own right. He has even put together a 10-disc box set of CDs. An elegant guitarist with a lovely, James Taylor-esque voice, Grossman's songs use tried-and-true pop-folk melodies and structures with a great deal of musical and lyrical elegance, and often a healthy sense of humor. His request-o-matic shtick is fun, but when he performs his own material, he transcends entertainment. " ----Arizona Republic (as compiled from David’s website)

ECHO - Mind and Soul

The story begins long time ago, about twenty years, when we played for the first time, with a lot of enthusiasm, yet few achievements, in a time when the options were limited. Twenty long years had to go by, to meet again the echo of those songs, in another era, as enthusiastic as ever.

For all those fond of musical style analysis and classification, our sound comes probably near the prog rock, but for us Echo is the nostalgia for the 70s and 80s when great bands showed to the public a complex and elaborated message on both lyrical and musical levels. Without creating an antithesis with most of the music of today, we want to put our music on a level aiming at both mind and soul (as compiled from the bands website).

Neal Storme - Singer Songwriter, Guitarist, Producer

About Neal Storme (as compiled on his website): Growing up moving all over the USA, I was able to listen to all kinds of music. From the early Sunday morning gospel at a Tent church on Rainier Avenue in Seattle after my paper route; to the TEX MEX sounds in Phoenix , to the Italians singing in the Streets on Providence, R. I. to the days after I left home (quite early) at Moratorium Day in Washington, D.C. My parents house, either you listened to Jim Reeves and Tammy Wynette (my Mom) or Harry James and most of the other Big Bands (my Step-father) to my older Brother Bill and the Beatles and Stones, to my sister and the Top 40.   I was influenced. And all of us at Pluto Radio and our listeners are very happy that you were!

Sinister Dexter - Soul Machine!

Sinister Dexter is a hard-hitting 10-piece soul machine-New Orleans-style horn band, like a mix of Tower of Power, Santana, the Blues Brothers, and a pre-80s Kool and the Gang (or if you're too young for that, think Big Bad Voodoo Daddy crossed with Ozomatli and Cake). Featuring our sensational vocalist Rebecca Lipon, a hot five-piece horn section, and a tight rhythm section, we put on a high energy show that keeps you moving late into the night.

While the members and mix of genres has changed, our goal has always been to be the local band that we would go out of our way to see ourselves. For us, that means featuring a thick, powerful horn section, dance-inducing grooves, and soulful vocals (as compiled from the bands website).

J MINUS - Alternative to the Alternative

The story of J minus goes back to classical times. While studying the supernatural music of the spheres, the ancients discovered a bizarre musical key somewhat like the cry of a baby zebra. They knew it was powerful and they kept it a secret, referring to it only as “J minus.”

Fast-forward to 2002. Songwriter Dylan Fant would accidentally summon this forgotten key in his studio while he sang parts to his songs; the result was awesome and terrifying. Through chance introductions and online ads, others joined his attempts to duplicate the feat. Trevor Wheetman and Chris Mongillo brought their voices and guitars and Myer Harrell provided the bass. For years they toiled in vain, but they knew their work together—from energized rock to poignant acoustic ballads—was worthwhile in and of itself. The band members stumbled upon the J minus legacy and the name became a reminder of their lifelong mission: to move listeners to laughter and tears with music.

This is not your typical rock group; they don't party hard or wear tight pants, and share only two tattoos among them on alternating weekends. They don't sound quite like anyone (aside from hints of radio-friendly rock reminiscent of Death Cab for Cutie, The Samples, and Toad the Wet Sprocket). They are the alternative to “alternative" at a time when indie rock is the status quo. Look for their third full-length album Devil Music in mid-2010, and if you find them on stage there is a possibility that the stars will align…and you will be the first in years to witness the elusive sound of J minus.

EARLSTOWN WINTER - Country / Folk Rock

Vancouver folk-country artists Earlstown Winter released their five-track EP, which plays much in the same vein of local group Eldorado with their brand of sweet-loving country music. The opening track, “Porch Lights”, is a slow burning moody ballad about lost love. It has a gentle, rolling, organic feel that is a perfect introduction to the band. Porch Lights is a very laidback affair. Each song is stripped back in terms of sound, but they don’t suffer for it. Singer-songwriter Jonathan Truefitt makes it all worth listening to. Truefitt has such a unique voice that one must hear to believe, as nothing is really comparable to it. Even with a single listen, anyone would be convinced that this guy’s broken heart is authentic. The final track “Helena” is quite beautiful and is guaranteed to get a tear rolling down the cheek of those listeners with a freshly broken heart.

Not something that regularly comes out of the Vancouver scene, Earlstown Winter has an unpretentious, soft and thoroughly gentle sound. There is nothing abrasive or earth shattering here—just some very pretty music.

PSYCHEDELIC MOOJ - Old School Rock

Psychedelic Mooj keeps things simple: old school groove, vintage tone, raw energy, and rock-solid rhythm.  Formed in Chandler, Arizona, in 2005, Psychedelic Mooj evolved from playing amped-up traditional blues to become one of Arizona’s preeminent psychedelic blues jam bands. Founding members Ram Tuli, Richard Chavez, Dave Hull were joined by Ram’s 15-year old son, Will Tuli, in 2010 to record their third album, Analog Soup.

Heavily influenced by 70s rock legends such as Humble Pie, Wishbone Ash and Robin Trower, the band writes and performs original music that is heavily guitar dominated atop a rock solid drum and bass rhythm foundation. Guitar players R. Tuli and Chavez have refined their vintage tone over many years and it has become an essential part of their sound, killer psychedelic blues. Bassist Dave Hull and drummer W. Tuli are about as solid as they come and combined together the band has few rivals when it comes to raw energy and talent. (as compiled on the bands website)

Last Train Home on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ...

"One of the country's most formidable roots-rock bands."
That's the assessment of Nashville's Tennessean newspaper about Last Train Home (as stated on the bands website). And while roots-rock is at the heart of LTH's sound, don't overlook the country, bluegrass, swing, blues, folk, pop, and Tin Pan Alley influences you'll find if you lend this band an ear. What began as a part-time band in Washington D.C. back in 1997 has evolved into an acclaimed full-time touring group based out of Nashville.

LTH frontman Eric Brace is a former staff writer for The Washington Post where he was a columnist covering the local music and nightlife scene. Prior to Last Train Home, Eric played in several Washington area bands, including B-Time, the Beggars, and Kevin Johnson & the Linemen. He also ran a local rock label, Top Records, for many years, before focusing on his own music.

In 2005, the band released the CD "Bound Away," and followed that in 2007 with "Last Good Kiss," both widely-praised CDs that showed the band's extraordinary growth. That artistic evolution was rewarded with appearances on the CBS "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and on the syndicated radio show "Mountain Stage."

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, LTH recorded and released a live concert DVD and CD, "Last Train Home Live at IOTA," a vivid document that captures the dynamic live performance that has become the hallmark of this band.

Thanks Stalker Kimmy for all the new posts here @ plutoradio!  Brilliant work, as usual.   Now stop following me, will you?  I'm running out of places to hide.

Cloud Map ..

CLOUDMAP is the result of a reflection about tempo in music and the most hidden forms in Rock.  The idea of creating, improving and self-growing throughout original melodies, different rhythms and odd time signatures, motivates Cloudmap. This band is not rhythmically straightforward and enjoys mixing electric and acoustic guitars, synthesizers, everything steered by a powerful drumming.

The project was born in 1998 as a learning project among musicians. It took a long time to improve an extensive repertory. During a decade, a small room has been a mute witness of the band hard work reaching some light today. More recently, in 2008, the band finally found the new members who would complete the formation and started putting together the “on stage” performances.   The lyrics talk about many different concepts based on feelings including death, treachery, pride, love or happiness. Although their music might seem abstract at the beginning it follows very logical patterns. The band looks for perfection through the mind and lives music as something magical and respectful. They prefer music to be the main character of their creations on top of any physical appearance. (as compiled ont he bands website)

Craving Dawn...

October 2008, Bill Waugh had completed a solo album under the name "Mox Pablo". With a desire to perform the music live, Val Sinco and Brian Waugh teamed up with Bill as vocalists and started practicing as the Mox Pablo band. With a few additional musicians coming and going along the way, the band had a rough start. Brian picked up the bass guitar and Lindsey Waugh came in as the manager. Percussion was missing again so in February of '09 Tom Barry joined as the full time drummer. With the music and sound evolving, the band decided to come up with a fresh new name, and "Craving Dawn" was spewed out of tipsy brainstorming. The band just needed one more thing...a harder, sharper edge. Tom Pentland came along with his metal background and completed the puzzle. Based out of Boise, Idaho with electronic drums, great riffs, acoustic guitar and a male/female vocal combo, Craving Dawn has a unique sound with intentional emotion-provoking lyrics....and they all love to hang with the crowd before and after shows! KUNG FURY - Free Yourself!

KUNG FURY is a rock-n-roll band that’s heavy with Big hooks, tight pants, fast kicks and short songs, in the vein of: Iggy and the Stooges, N.Y. Dolls, QOTSA, Teengenerate, Janes Addiction...
Shaun Brennan (guitar/vocals), founder of the shining Washington, D.C. based glam rock band Vanity Champ and R.E.A. (drums), formerly of notorious Albany punkers The Disenchanted, met in New York City in 2003 and began writing songs.  Soon joined by Neal Ostberg on bass (of the infamous NYC Hardcore band Antidote) they started recording and playing gigs along the East Coast while staying steady
on the NYC club circuit.  In 2008 Jonny Z took over on bass duties and the boys hit the studio in May of 2009 to record the newly released and smashing EP “KICKS!”, featuring three fresh songs: “Take A Punch”, “I’m A Man” and “Wired”.

KUNG FURY is about release. It’s about freeing yourself from the grip of small people with three minute songs about life, pleasure and decadence.  It’s about simple, sexy rock-n-roll with a taste for class and trash. So, turn up the volume, light some bottle rockets and crawl around to the beat.....cheers babies! (as compiled from the bands website)

TITO CALLOWAY - It’s Calloway Time!

"We're all gifted in a way but see what sets us apart, is some use their art for the sole reason of being a star. I use the gift of gab that God gave me to speak from my heart. To help my people see their way through the dark...Sorta like the Moon." - Tito Calloway

Born in Detroit, Tito Calloway has been writing, producing, and performing with his three brothers since the age of 5. As “The Calloway”, they recorded over sixty songs and the album,”Frozen for the Future”. Their dynamic sound quickly created a strong and loyal local fan base along with major industry attention. To further pursue his music career Tito moved out west to LA. The time spent in LA allowed Tito to elevate himself as an artist and a sound businessman. Along the way Tito has written, produced, and collaborated with various hip hop and rock artists all over the world. Tito's exposure to Rock, Detroit's Electronic Movement and his love for Classic Motown helped create a new fusion of Hip Hop that is now known as The Calloway sound. Most noticeably was the 2008 recording of the "Down & Out Remix" by Tito and the rock group Tantric.

With Producers Jared Lee and Chris Rosa, Tito went into the studio with some of LA's most talented artists and musicians to create his new independent album, "Thugelligence" . Tito Calloway's lyrics and style are a positive evolution of spirit and street, challenging Hip-Hop norms. Tito's live performances with his band The Infinite gained the respect of musicians, fellow artists, celebrities and fans all around Los Angeles. With his name buzzing around the industry and a documentary in production Detroit's native son has decided to return home to launch his album, reunite with his brothers and initiate his non-profit endeavors. So I hope y'all are ready because once again...It's Calloway Time!!!

BUCK 69 - Blues Rock + Roots Rock

Like Bob Seger meeting Jonny Lang in a juke joint to talk about Eric Clapton. A father and son blues rock band. With three members over the age of 50 and 4 members under the age of 35, Buck69 is influenced by more than three generations of music. They are influenced by who, what, where, when and how their everyday lives start and end! Music is Buck69's way to express their inner feelings. To cement in history the people, places and things that affect the bands lives. Be it happy or sad, life or death. They write about what carry's them down life's highway. Always in search of that one song! Because: "Great singers, writers and musicians will come and go, but a great song lives forever".

In 2002 after a short sabbatical to concentrate on wife, kids and career, Tom Clawson formerly of "T.C. Rogers & The Blue's Hamilton Band" 1970's Warren, OH. (Singer-Songwriter-Guitar) along with his oldest son Alex Clawson from the band "BHB" Toledo, OH (Singer-Songwriter-Guitar) decided to start playing out as an acoustic duo. Playing originals and covers in and around the local Toledo, Ohio area. In June of 2004, persuaded by his son, the decision was made to go with a full band. The band offers a diverse ageless genre of "Blues Rock mixed with Roots Rock" (as compiled on the bands website).

Who’s who:
Tom Clawson - Singer – Songwriter - Guitar
Alex Clawson - Rhythm and Lead Guitar
Candice Coleman (American Idol 2003) - Vocals
Buzz Anderson - Lead Guitar - Vocals

Hanger 13 ..

Luke Ory :

" Historic rock venue Hangar 13 caught fire on may 11th 2014, and burned to the ground. It happened mere hours after hosting one of its biggest concerts to date. We were the last group to perform on Hangar 13's legendary stage, and being the venues most frequent performing Metal band, we are devastated.
The New Orleans’ premier concert venue is an old one.  “Hangar 13″ (Previously “The Hangar” and “Rendon Music Hall”) has had a colored history of being one of New Orleans’ renowned concert venues, having hosted many huge national acts (Including Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Down, NIN, etc.). And now its gone.

The Rock scene in New Orleans has been struggling lately. And now, with Hangar 13 destroyed, it suffers even more. It was one of the ONLY places left in the Big Easy for ANY Rock band to play. Local and National. Except that the National bands get to move on to the next city and rock out, while we wait, and hope, that Hangar 13 rises from the grave." - Luke Ory, guitars, vocals, song writer, front man of Headspill.

SMOKE FISH - Life Ain't Pink

The debut album of Smoke Fish - ‘Life Ain’t Pink’ has a lot of things in common with the trips around the world made by lead singer Shay. Many things to discover and experience, Shay’s journey began in his home country of Israel and ended in the seaport of Breton where he decided to dwell and also founded the band Smoke Fish. “Life Aint Pink” starts with a vortex of sound of Rock and Wave and ends with the pleasing awareness that, every now and then, a new band is able to find their own personal path.

The entire album scores with superb lyrics and plenty of variety with interactions with Post Punk, Pop and Modern Rock. What makes ‘Life Ain’t Pink’ so fascinating is the keen sense of great melodies and the courage to create something unique. The Strength of Smoke Fish’s debut album not only lies in its influence of Electronic, Mariachi, Oriental and African tunes, but in the fact that these influences belong together (as compiled from the bands website).
