Eric Walker’s career in entertainment began in the early eighties in acting. He is most well known for the two movies he starred in as Mace Towani for George Lucas in the Star Wars spin off known as The Ewok Adventures.
 
It was High School at LACHSA that he began his artistic journey into the uncompromising creative depth of music and all it has to offer. But he wasn’t satisfied with just knowing how to execute mere music play and this would lead Eric to purchasing his first keyboard, a Roland synthesizer. Three badgers from Northern Ireland, Birmingham and Ilkeston who met in Nottingham and decided to make loud experimental math-rock together.

We spend our time constantly writing and touring the UK, Ireland and Europe as much as possible, we self-released a couple of EP’s before joining the Field Records family, the  '123.EP' was also picked up and released in Japan by Linus records and our debut album "Snib" is released on the 7th of February 2011.

We've received various BBC radio plays and recorded acoustic sessions for BBC introducing as well as featuring in forthcoming independent films by Beat24 and I’m Not from London. We've also played with bands such as Mono, Zu, Holy Fuck, Ungdomskulen, And So I Watch You From Afar, Adebisi Shank, Chrik, Maybeshewill and loads more.

  When Australian band Dingo Landlord moved from Cape Cockburn (NT, Australia, near Croker Island) to Amsterdam (Holland) in search for fame, fortune, drugs, booze and loose women, they instantly found a couple of these aspirations to have come true upon arrival. (Read loose women, booze and drugs a plenty.) Ironically, just after two weeks in Holland they met Holistic healer Raoulfo Arnolfolonzo who convinced them to end their grievous ways by making them renounce drugs and alcohol altogether. This, sadly, made the lose interest in women as well. Clean and sober and with too much time on their hands they met up with Brit guitarist Raedolph Huffington and formed the band Whipping Pole (now with Nigel St. Davids only on vocal duties instead of 6 strings as well). Their first album "Eat The Meat" was not received well by just about anybody and they were swiftly dropped by their management and the record subsequently was never released. Quickly they formed a new band EcP79 (same line up, different name) and went to work on their soon to be finished next album and current masterpiece “When The Win Was One”. Hopefully this will lead to some proper management representation in the future and who knows, maybe even the fulfillment of their remaining aspirations. MARBLE SHEEP were founded in 1987 by Ken Matsutani(ex WHITE HEAVEN). First the band started its musical activity under the name of "MARBLE SHEEP & THE RUN-DOWN SUN'S CHILDREN." The good old MARBLE SHEEP passed through many styles of psychedila like Minimal Music, Heavy Rock and S.F. Jam Psych as both band and music continued to evolve.

The name MARBLE SHEEP is highly esteemed overseas as a fixture of the Japanese rock scene since early times.  MARBLE SHEEP started their real overseas activity from 2002. They obtained overseas record company deals too and had many live shows in USA and Europe. The history of Asteroid is a psychedelic space saga, timeless and endless, with no upside or downside, but with a beautiful ending. The band, formed during the winter of 2003, has undertaken a long musical journey and developed a sound well fit to the trio constellation. After being formed as a regular stoner band, it didn’t take long before new grounds were conquered. Since then, influences have been collected from blues and British 70’s classic rock, but also from Swedish traditional folk music.

Asteroid is now back with their second album, called simply “II”. It is a more evolved but also relaxed and groovy follow up to their highly acclaimed debut album S/T. This time they locked themselves up in a studio deep in the forest, trying to capture the raw and naked sound and feeling in their music. You will hear a tighter, heavier, but also darker Asteroid. You will still recognize the characteristic energy in the sound and feel the joy delivered by the musicians.

This record is like transporting yourself back to the psychedelic woods of Sweden, but unlike other 70’s influences bands this is also fresh and unique on its own. Thee Stag Knights first came together in early 2000 as a three piece featuring Ben Butler on guitar, Adele Daniele on drums and vocals and Iain McIntyre on bass and shouting. Informed by a love of raw 60s rock n roll and trashy exotica. Playing numerous shambolic shows at the fabulous Town Hall and other illustrious venues around Melbourne the band recorded their debut album with Steve Hickmott in September 2000.
Thee Stag Knights fully reloaded in 2005 with the addition of Laila Marie Costa Ramone on guitar, vocals and keyboards. Playing a bunch of shows, mainly at The Tote, the band recorded "Santa's Been A Naughty Boy" for the 2005 Rock Against Bullshit Christmas compilation... In 2006 the band have honed their twin guitar assault adding a number of new songs, playing The Tote and recently laying down a bunch of tracks with Laura MacFarlane at Backyard Charlies. The SlimP started in 2003 as a quartet. All four were deeply influenced by wave music and bands like The Cure during the 80ies. But they didn't want to warm up old stuff. ;-) With two bass-guitars and a female vocalist, they soon found their own personality and their unique sound: darkwave full of melancholy, leading you into a new dimension of music. This sound was supplemented by a second guitar during 2004/05, adding a dash of hardness to the music and to the second album "Some seconds Later". The Boxettes ..

The Great Hollywood Hangover ...

Lee's interview with Nancy Deedrick is currently in rotation on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream.   It is an informal discussion about life on the Sunset Strip back in the sixties and seventies.  Ms. Deedrick's website is titled THE GREAT HOLLYWOOD HANGOVER (http://www.hollywoodhangover.com/)  Nancy shares stories of what it was like living on the Strip in the mid to late sixties and early seventies.  The Whiskey Go Go, The Roxy, The London Fog, The Classic Cat, The Body Shop...   Lee also includes an audio recording of Nancy and some friends getting tossed out of a motel for playing their guitars too loud - perhaps most notable, Mr. Joe Cocker.  The following is an excerpt from Nancy's website: "

If you hung out on "The Strip" in the sixties, then you know exactly what the "Hollywood Hangover" is. If you were not there, then you probably wish you had been, so here is where you'll find information about the people who lived in the grandest part of the world during the greatest era of them all. 

What I have read and seen so far about that period, would have given me the wrong impression, had I not lived there myself.  The Jim Morrison movie for instance, was disturbing--the way we were portrayed.  It was misleading. Whose impression was THAT?!  ...and oh so negative!  That's not the way I remember it, folks. 

I don't remember anything bad about the sixties. The bad stuff was minimal; and it's not something I ever want to zero in on like so many other writers have done.  Every movie, every documentary--all negative or sleazy.  We weren't angels, but we weren't offensive pigs, either. Our young people are being deprived of the truth, because they have been given a warped notion of what went on. I was there, and it was wonderful."

Human Cycle began their cultural and musical performance in the year 2004. The band is from the city of Gaia-Porto, Portugal. Influenced by different styles of musical and cultural matrix, the members of the group found in the heart of the band, a balance between rock with a touch of soul (soul rock) and electronic rhythms.

The first EP was recorded and mixed in the studios Indústria Rock, in Penafiel, with the Producer Rodolfo Cardoso and Paulo Pintado. The Second record was Produced by human cycle and mixed by Rodolfo Cardoso. The video Anankê (one shine sane) has more than half a million views in youtube. Lyrics are key elements in the life of the group, since the different social, cultural and philosophical realities in which we are living, are revealed through their texts. Jackson Rodgers - Satisfy the Need!

Jackson Rodgers' story began shortly after he learned how to write about himself in the third person. Dragged regularly by his father to the church of the New Traditionalists, Jackson learned quickly to heed the lessons of Fathers Desert Rose, Yoakam, Earle, and Stuart, as well as those of Sisters McKee and Carlson. Alas, like all children, Jackson the Rodgers eventually began to yearn for something more; and so he began to seek out the teachings of prior generations, such as those of his namesake, Jackson the Browne. Rodgers' first, fleeting step outside the teachings of his youth enthralled his young mind, and so he strove onward on his quest to acquire more disparate musical knowledge, soon discovering such luminaries as Sirs Jennings and Nelson, as well as His Highness of Broken Hearts, King George. Further excursions would bring him to know the wisdom of the ones they call Dylan, Springsteen, Parsons, Graffin, and Gurewitz. For many years, young Rodgers would languish in the thinking that he could never properly apply all he had learned. And then, one day, 'round the age of 16, he wrote "Satisfy the Need," and he saw that it was good. Thus began his songwriting journey, which so far has culminated in two albums' worth of material and the demos on this page (as stated on Jackon's webpage). Where things go from here, only circumstance knows...

SHAPES OF RACE CARS - Triumph and Fragility

Based out of Silverlake, CA Shapes of Race Cars is a local favorite. The heart of SRC is the best friend duo, singer / songwriter Dylan Champion and bass player Dale Zyla. The two mid-western transplants became pals on the East side music scene around the turn of the millennium. With their drummer Kaumyar they just completed their stunning new record Beauty Beat – the follow up to their critically lauded indie rock debut, Power, in ’07.

Beauty Beat takes Champion’s established knack for hooks and melodies beyond the garage rock thump of Power to a more open, sweepingly emotive sound. Shapes still have irresistible fun with tube amp party tracks like “Get Melted!” and “The Dirty Girls”, but they’ve brought in piano and strings and cleared away layered distorted guitars to reveal the simple power of great bass lines, beats and melodies.

Songs like the heartbreaking “Boring Villains”, the mini-epic “World’s End” and the hypnotically spare “Bigger Than Sin” deal in triumph and fragility – grandeur and vulnerability. “We’ve never tried to fit into a scene just to be popular,” says Champion of the Shapes of Race Cars sound. “We’ve let the songs lead us to who we are as a band. You have to be a little brave, I guess, cuz sometimes it’s easier to copy what seems hot at the moment, but the reward is so much greater.” The reward for Shapes has included lots of great ink, a fearsomely loyal international fan base and seeing their music featured in dozens of TV shows, films, video games and national ad campaigns.

“I love great songwriters more than hip trends,” says Champion. “I’ve always done this for the joy of a song that makes life more vivid, not for red carpets, vip parties and limousines… Although, if I’m in a limousine, I’m not gonna mind it, as long as there’s great music.” (all as compiled from the bands website)
