Menhirs of Er Grah ..
Menhirs of Er Grah - Different World
British musician Thomas Carter doesn't stay in one genre for very long. His project March Rosetta has two albums out on the Clinical Archive netlabel which are quite different from each other. One is a pleasant and mildly avant-garde instrumental effort of electronic music while the other is a more mainstream pop outing.Again, Mr. Carter shift gears with his new musical project Menhirs of Er Grah. Named after a Megalithic structure in France the music is as sparse and lonely as the stone. Different World can best be described as folk music. It is simply Carter's voice and guitar with another second guitar dubbed in later. The sound is, to put it simply, quite beautiful. Carter's voice has a not unpleasant wavering quality that communicates vulnerability. The guitar work provides a steady base for the lyrics which are complex yet intimate. I especially like the title track and "Red Roses". This is slow and meandering music, easy to relax to but full of meaning.

Hungry Lucy on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ..
One simple reason why I dig this duo... THEY HAVE FOUND A VOICE OF THEIR OWN AND THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!
(information compiled from Internet Archive info on Hungry Lucy) To create the music complied for their CD "Pulse of the Earth" Christa Belle and Warren Harrison cast aside all expectations and spent time isolated in the mountains of Tennessee and away from the world - with no outside disturbances the duo were able to ignore trends and dive headlong into the art of storytelling.
band website: http://www.hungrylucy.com/ (visit the band site, by a song or two... let them know Pluto Radio sent you)
I love playing, promoting, and, of course, listening to talented artists like HUNGRY LUCY here on the Pluto Radio stream. They deserve to be heard.

Dexter Jones Circus Orchestra ..
Dexter Jones’ Circus Orchestra music withholds hints of Swedish
progressive rock combined with powerful guitar melodies and catchy
drums. It stretches itself between hard driven riffs and accoustic
ballads. The band has been compared to everything from Mammoth Volume
and Bob Dylan to Blue Oyster Cult and Thin Lizzy. Comparisons aside:
-This is probably how the 70`s would sound today. Its a true gem with
endless potential!
Dexter Jones’ Circus Orchestra formed in 2000 in Umeå, Sweden by Tia Marklund, David and Daniel Israelsson, Håkan Dalsfelt and Kent Jonsson. The debut record “The Losers are Back in Town” was recorded in 2003 and released by Freebird Records as a 7” vinyl.
Work on a full length album started shortly after and the self titled debut (on Freebird Records) was released in 2004, containing 10 dynamite songs. Slowly things started to happen. DJCO was booked at Eurosonic Festival January 2005 and toured mainland Europe twice, together with the cult band Hypnos 69. The debut LP got great reviews and was even hailed ”the album of the year” by some of the leading European rock magazines. The songs could also be found on a few compilation records such as “The Ultimate fuzzcollection” (Fuzzorama Records).
During 2006 some changes were made in the band. (as compiled from the band's website).

SK-
Founder
member Peter Lazar has been composing songs for many years. Ranging
from 70's flavoured symphonic-melodic rock in the vein of classic Yes,
to, let's say, what fellow Swedes Pain of Salvation are now doing in the
prog-metal genre of today.
Coming
across Mads Claussen (Biscaya, Empire) to help out with lead vocals,
also meant getting encouragement to present the demos on MySpace. An
absolutely overwhelming result with a million plus visitors just craved
for action in finally forming a band and produce an album.
Bringing
in bassplayer Ken Sandin (Alien, DaVinci, Kee Marcello's K2),completed
the main core of the Timecode project and plans for the procedure of the
album were drawn up.
The working title Freakshow was released in April 2009.
Some
very talented session musicians are contributing to the recordings.
Drummers Svetlan Råket and Anders Josefsson, lead guitarists Mattias
Moberg and Johan Randén etc.

Moon Prototype ..
MP
was born during the night in 1998. Electronic sounds, mix of mystery,
sensuality and bitterness assumed, bittersweet vocals, MP must be tasted
with eyes half closed. The ancestry takes place in the world of its
creator, Olivier Jung. The influences are very diverse, Tricky to Nine
Inch Nails through Luke Slater, Radiohead and Depeche Mode, Wovenhand to
Deftones. MP is located between Paris and the Moon. After “Melanclimax”
in 2004, MP has published in 2009 a new Ep entitled “Born Into This”,
composed, recorded and mixed in one week, “a week, a track, an hour.”
The new album “Dusty Lane” was released one month later. In late 2008,
the EP “Red”, announces a musical turn, launching MP in new lands of
sound. In late 2009, MP released a collection of remixes for various
bands over the 10 past years. In 2011, MP undergoes many changes: life,
hopes, ghosts, joys and sorrows will finaly give birth to “From My
Belly”, consisting of five haunted songs which will make you dream about
your darkest passions. Pregnancy is difficult but necessary. (as

50 Foot Wave ..
50 Foot Wave is an American alternative rock band, formed in 2003. The band is fronted by Kristin Hersh, who writes the group's songs with collaborative efforts from the other group members in composing and arranging the music. The group's name is a reference to both an illustration and the term for the 50-foot sound wave of the lowest F tone audible to the human ear. The band sometimes abbreviates its name as L'~, using the Roman numeral for 50.

Space Hound ..
While
lounging around for many weeks during a recent summer, Angelo
Spyropoulos was playing guitar, writing lyrics and recording original
songs on his cell phone. Often taking breaks to walk his unruly dog (and
giving the hound some space for which it could run) it makes perfect
sense that Angelo would later suggest the name, Spacehound, to his band
mates. Formed in Venice and Long Beach, CA in December, 2009, Spacehound
is characterized by bold guitars, bright melodies, and funk, pop and
punk sensibilities. The band’s sound is reminiscent of artists such as
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, yet Spacehound beams with
distinctive charm and style. (as compiled on the bands website)

Black Wyrm Seed on Pluto Radio...
"Black
Wyrm Seed’s debut isn’t something you’d put on when you need to get
shit done. It’s stoner music for stoners and ex-stoners who like to
remember the good old days when getting shit done had no meaning in
one’s life. And it’s the perfect soundtrack for that. Black Wyrm Seed
are more than comfortable going at their own, sloth-like pace. The fact
that it doesn’t get old or drag is a testament to the fact that they
write songs – slow as molasses songs – but songs none the less. If
that’s your bag, I heavily suggest digging out your old tape deck and
finding a bag of Doritos. You’ll thank me."

Marble Sheep - a Pluto Favorite!
MARBLE
SHEEP were founded in 1987 by Ken Matsutani(ex WHITE HEAVEN). First the
band started its musical activity under the name of "MARBLE SHEEP &
THE RUN-DOWN SUN'S CHILDREN." The good old MARBLE SHEEP passed through
many styles of psychedila like Minimal Music, Heavy Rock and S.F. Jam
Psych as both band and music continued to evolve.
The name MARBLE SHEEP is highly esteemed overseas as a fixture of the Japanese rock scene since early times. MARBLE SHEEP started their real overseas activity from 2002. They obtained overseas record company deals too and had many live shows in USA and Europe. In contrast with the long history of the band, MARBLE SHEEP are described as "Merry Pranksters of the 21st Century." This can be attributed to the merry and energetic live performances which can flip out even full-grown-ups while taking listeners to the Space World easily.
So, eternal 21st Century boys & girls, We wanna be your SNAPPY TOYS!!!! (as compiled on the bands website).

Kevin Martin on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ..
Meet
Kevin Martin - a solo pop-rock songwriter with a sound that’s described
as “Burt Bacharach meets Queen and Elton John.” A San Diego native,
Kevin got his musical start in taking classical piano lessons after his
parents overheard him singing. He started writing songs at age 12 and
played his first bar gig with a band at age 16. In high school he honed
his vocal skills and won multiple awards for his stage performances in a
variety of musicals, and by senior year was voted “Most likely to be on MTV.”
While Kevin is technically making his debut as a solo performer, he is a
seasoned veteran of performing in rock bands - most notably playing
keyboards and co-writing for established San Diego pop-rockers, Get Back
Loretta. The band has won a total of six San Diego Music Awards while
Kevin has been part of the band. With Get Back Loretta, Kevin has played
notable venues such as The Casbah, Belly Up, House of Blues, and the
Warfield in SF to crowds of 3000+. (as compiled on Kevin's website)

Zombies of the Stratosphere ..
Our
heroes met at University, where they were bitter rivals. Years later,
they found themselves in New York City, beavering away in dusty corners
of the Great Media Behemoth: J put in time at a literary agency and
studied the mystical art of making records while slaving as a sound
engineer at various hip recording studios about town, while A avoided
sunlight as a film archivist and curator at a br...oadcasting
museum. Both had unsatisfying tenures in doomed rock combos where they
nevertheless honed their musical skills. Each fancied himself a
songwriter in the classic pop mode and pursued the elusive art with
uncommon zeal, resting only for massive infusions of film noir and comic
books.
It was inevitable that they join forces and continue in the tradition of their idols Ray Davies, Elvis Costello, and Brian Wilson, i.e., churning out gem-like compositions with maddeningly infectious tunes and obscure lyrics while failing to deal with their crippling emotional problems. Praise for the album, "The Well-Mannered Look" (2007): "...extremely catchy, jangle-guitar pop with hooks that recall classic ’60s rock bands like the Kinks... On their latest album, The Well Mannered Look, Zombies of the Stratosphere offer a mix of smartly crafted and addictive songs." - NPR’s Second Stage 11/26/07 Host Robin Hilton says the title track "has one of the catchiest and most addictive melodies I’ve heard all year." "...The bottom line is that if it were 1969 and we were on Carnaby Street, these guys would be gods." - Absolute Powerpop CD of the Day 5/3/07 See More |

The Dots ..
The Dots were simply the best band in New York City from the late seventies to the mid eighties. Led by guitarist Rick Garcia, a prolific songwriter who has been described as 'dangerously brilliant', the star of the band was lead singer Jimmi Quidd, formerly James Hatzidimitriou, who attended high school in Athens, Greece with rock solid bass player Leigh Sioris. These three made up the core of the Dots and were joined by a number of top NY musicians for different periods of the bands history including Alison East, Jimmy Agnello, Nat Seeley, Vinnie Signorelli, Billy Bell, Al Maddy and Jeff Formosa. Their songs were finely crafted punk-pop with clever lyrics and unforgettable hooks.
With a sound like the Move at their best the band often opened with 'I Can Hear the Grass Grow' before cruising through a one hour set of perfect 3 minute songs, played at high volume and high energy. The Dots toured Germany several times where they were based in Berlin and very popular, putting out three albums there. RETURN OF THE DOTS, I CAN SEE YOU, and a live album from their last tour. My Sleeping Karma .
Sometimes
one creates a dynamic impression by saying something, and sometimes one
creates a significant impression by remaining silent.
My Sleeping Karma combines the organic aspect of psychedelic groove rock with emotional shades of aphasian landscapes. That was the inTention of the debut album and it still remains. Guitar, bass and drums in love with a soundboard. My Sleeping Karma's album "Satya" released september 20th on Elektrohasch Records. And time is the major keyword in the context of "Satya". The conditioned mind is always moving between the past and future, and this movement activity creates the illusion of time. Use your illusion and you will discover the voice within. My Sleeping Karma is enlightment.
Now
is the time to take it to the next level. My Sleeping Karma's new album
"Tri" is out now on Elektrohasch Records. (as compiled on the bands

The wisdom of John Ludi here on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ..
It's been 7 years since I've promoted an album. Things have really changed.
There are now a bunch of sites that you have to PAY to get a review from...and some artists are actually using them. Wow.
How do you even have the pretense of objectivity with such an arrangement? And how, once the source of such a review becomes known, does anyone in the industry take such a review seriously?
What used to be called payola is pretty rampant too: paying for spins on online stations...yet all the while the opportunities for revenue for independent artists are vanishing. There are even sites where you can register your songs as Creative Commons with no limits on licensing so, in theory, PepsiCo could use one of your tunes in an ad and never pay you any royalties. And those services, too, have a ton of artists on them giving it all away.
So sad that the arts have become so undervalued, so cheap...so disposable.
I suppose against the larger backdrop of a planet whose biosphere is spiraling out of control, it's a minor little concern, but it still saddens me to see artists willing to pay large sums of money to give their work away for free, essentially.
I really feel sorry for younger acts who are trying to make any sort of living at this...for a time, it was different. Me, I'm old and my material is out of step with the times...so I know that I have to make my income via non-musical means...and I mostly always have...but what a massive set of disincentives for anyone getting into this field. Frankly, if my muse was not screaming at me and had I not had the desire to leave a more expanded musical legacy than what I would have left otherwise, I would not have recorded the two new albums...but I have and it means I have to have at least a minor go at promoting them to do them justice...but what a weird little world for indie artists it's become.

“Beautiful video, very beautiful timelapse stuff and so I stayed… and they knocked me out. I’d seen Sigur Ros earlier in the week, we’d webcast that show, Sigur Ros is on my mind.
