Just played "Take Me Home" by the Parsnip Revolt.  Wow.  What a lovely song.  This band brings some insight to the vibe here on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream.

The Low Lows .

Founded in 2006 by Mangham Parker, the Low Lows are named after the final recording of NYC noise-pop trio Parker & Lily. They have released two full-length albums and one EP (Fire On The Bright Sky, 2006; Elizabeth Pier, 2008; and Shining Violence, 2009) and have toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe.
The magazine El Pais declared their latest Barcelona festival show "monstrously sad and brilliantly anachronistic..." while in London the BBC called their recent live radio performance "marvelous... absolutely beautiful... one of our favorite sessions of the year".
In various incarnations the Low Lows have ranged from simple trio to sprawling, 14-player live spectacle. Their current live show consists of a spartan five-piece semi-acoustic lineup, though recordings still tend to be wall-of-sound affairs. Residing previously in New York City and Athens, Georgia, they are now based out of Austin, Texas.
Recently the band has performed songs at the Flaming Lips-curated All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in New York and for Austin City Limits Stage Left Television. Their third and fourth full-length albums, "Gaudy Frame" and "Light All The Lights" are slated for sequential release in 2013. (as compiled on the bands website)

Chris Klimecky .

I am so happy to finally announce the official release of my new album, This Journey! It's been a huge endeavor of heart, soul, and effort - a dream project to have the time to realize my vision as best as I possibly could. In songwriting, performance, and production, this is a new high bar that I am thrilled to share with you! In celebration, I've posted the opening song "Arrival" for you to preview on Reverbnation.
The whole album is available for digital download from my Reverbnation store, iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, and CD Baby, with the high quality hard copy/CD available only from CD Baby (links to all below). If initial feedback holds true, this will be a disc that becomes part of your permanent collection, not just a charity purchase from an indie artist that you pass to a friend after one listen. In fact, I'm so confident you'll enjoy it, if you buy a hard copy/CD from CD Baby, I'll give you a personal money back guarantee - if you really aren't happy with it, contact me, send me the disc, and I'll Paypal you the purchase price in return.
Thanks in advance for your support and I hope to hear your feedback (like the comments below) soon!
Chris
"This Journey is an amazing album. 'Michael W. Smith meets Queensryche.' I have spun it about five times now and it keeps getting better...an altruistic display of chops and songwriting prowess!! ~Raymond Hayden, Maurice the Fish Records
"Chris, the album is AMAZING! Listened to it the past 3 days in my car. AWESOME STUFF!" ~Jeff Ross, The Aquarium Radio Show (nwczradio.com)
"Wow, your new CD is MAGNIFICENT!!! I've spent the last three days listening to it non-stop, and I must say, you've outdone yourself this time. Really an amazing piece of work. I think you've grown considerably as a songwriter and a vocalist. Your guitar playing was always pretty smoking, and that's on display here, too. This is definitely going to be one of my 'summer soundtrack' CDs over the next few months." ~Aaron Cohen, WQXR New York

The Phantoms ..

Following the success of last year's single 'Revolution', The Phantoms are back with a new call to arms 'Wasting Time'.

The Phantoms pride themselves on producing instantly catchy indie rock anthems in the same vein as Catfish and the Bottlemen and Arctic Monkeys, both are bands they cite as being big influences on their sound.

For interviews and live sessions please give me a shout.

Thanks,
Andrea x

"Soaring Atmospheric Britpop... What Oasis would have sounded like if they'd listened to The Doors rather than the The Beatles."
Jim Gellatly, XFM Scotland

Based in West Lothian, Scotland, The Phantoms formed in May 2012, quickly winning an army of fans with their huge sound and infectious on-stage energy.

It didn't take long for Scotland's most influential DJs to pick up on the buzz around the band with debut EP 'This Is How It Should Be' earning widespread airplay.  A UK tour and support slots for Catfish and the Bottlemen and We Were Promised Jetpacks preceeded the release of the anthemic 'Revolution' a single that was played by radio stations across the UK, earning praise for its sweeping guitars and driving beat.

Influenced by Kasabian, Royal Blood, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Arctic Monkeys, their new single 'Wasting Time' is a perfect example of the sound that has earned The Phantoms the reputation as one of Scotland's most exciting prospects.

The Phantoms are:
Colin Simpson - Vocals and Rhythm Guitar
Colin McKillop - Lead Guitar
Peter Stewart - Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals
Blair Cullen - Drums

Gordon Duthie .

Gordon Duthie
GORDON DUTHIE TAKES COMEDY DETOUR ON ROUTE TO NEXT MUSIC PROJECT
ABERDEENSHIRE MUSIC ARTIST SPOOFS RADIO, PODCASTS, ADVERTS AND HIMSELF
Aberdeenshire music artist - Gordon Duthie - has released an audio comedy show on his website which spoofs syndicated radio, podcasts, adverts / commercials and his artistic persona.  The "The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast - North East Radio" is available as a free download and reveals another side to Gordon's creative writing versatility.  This change of direction takes some influence from his past music projects - "Shire and City" and "Multimedia Monster" - and hints at a future deviation from his perceived melancholy sound.

The premise of the show is as follows:  A week ago today (13th of January) in 1913 the first radio broadcast was transmitted from The Metropolitan Opera House in New York, showcasing performances of the classic Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci operas.  Today, internet troll - Johan "The Code" Cracker - breaks new ground by hosting the "The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcastwhich now means "you don't need a screen to laugh at a deluded dream".  Inspired by the revolving media circus door of disposable reality culture, "The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast" provides a "regular reality hilarity fix" within the previously untapped radio broadcast market, moving away from the traditional public humiliation format of reality television.  In this featured episode, Johan has somehow found a failed pilot radio show produced by North East Radio, who are the Aberdeen / Aberdeenshire arm of a UK wide syndicated radio network owned by a multinational media company.  The failed pilot also had an unlikely host, the struggling Scottish music artist Gordon Duthie, who had accepted a shock offer to host this new show after finding himself broke, disillusioned and out of ideas.  A recipe for disaster which provoked one of Johan's signature catchpharses;  "Epic Reality Radio Fail Alert!"

Running Order:

1. The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast - North East Radio
2. “The Odor Neutralizer Grenade” Commercial
3. Interview with Zac Radke – Music’s Money Making Machine
4. “Dude I Hate My Rich Dad” Movie Trailer
5. North East News
6. A Chat with Clichy about Football
7. “Cash for Blow” Commercial
8. A Very Scottish Christmas
9. Will We Ever Hear from Him Again?
10. “Shave(r) Grater” Commercial

"The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast - North East Radio" features a multinational cast and can also be streamed on sites such as SoundCloud and YouTube.

About Gordon Duthie

Gordon began producing his self-funded debut album - "Shire and City" - seriously in 2008 and it was released to the general public in July 2012. The album attracted critical praise from music journalists for it's original and eclectic style and was featured on multinational media outlets such as STVThe Scotsman and Altsounds as well as local media publications such as the Evening Express and numerous newspapers distributed across North East Scotland by Johnston Press.
Gordon has appeared as the featured guest on both Waves Radio and Spark Sunderland which are FM Radio Stations in the UK. Songs from "Shire and City" have also received FM radio airplay across the world including the UK, USA, Canada, Italy and so on.

Gordon began writing and preparing his second music project immediately after the release of "Shire and City". One of the principle aims of the project was to improve the production level of the songs. To do this he invested in some new high level equipment and spent a day at Steve Mason's (The Beta Band King Biscuit Time / Black Affair) KronK Studio in Fife to learn new production techniques.

Released in August 2013, "Multimedia Monster" has attracted critical praise from music journalists for it's original and eclectic style and has been featured in multinational media outlets such as The Daily Record. Songs from "Multimedia Monster" have also received radio airplay globally, appearing on broadcasts such as Jim Gellatly's Amazing Radio show.

Solstice Coil .

Solstice Coil launches crowdfunding campaign to record new album

Solstice Coil, Israel’s first alt-prog-rock band formed on the web, has officially launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the band’s upcoming third album on indiegogo.

After self-producing and self-financing the successful debut ‘A Prescription for Paper Cuts’ (2005) and its follow-up ‘Natural Causes’ (2011), Solstice Coil is joining the latest trend in the industry and turning to its fans for help in financing the creation of the band’s new album.

Fans who choose to pledge for the album will receive a variety of unique rewards including special credit on the album, stickers, an exclusive remixed version of A Prescription for Paper Cuts, and more.

The more creative fans will even get the chance to partake in the actual album by recording vocals for one of the songs, and even sending in their own lyrics for Solstice Coil to compose and record.

The campaign features a humoristic video much akin to the band’s 2011 Dream Theater Parody, which scored Solstice Coil some major internet points. The indiegogo video includes some very surprising guests.

The first 100 people to pledge and preorder the album will receive a significant discount. This fundraiser has a fixed goal of 6,000, which means it’s all or nothing - so if you’re a Solstice Coil fan don’t wait and pledge now!

Eric Walker .

Eric Walker’s career in entertainment began in the early eighties in acting. He is most well known for the two movies he starred in as Mace Towani for George Lucas in the Star Wars spin off known as The Ewok Adventures.

It was High School at LACHSA that he began his artistic journey into the uncompromising creative depth of music and all it has to offer. But he wasn’t satisfied with just knowing how to execute mere music play and this would lead Eric to purchasing his first keyboard, a Roland synthesizer. This allowed him to practice at home with no limit access to embedding himself into his endeavor to attain some kind of admirable mastery of the music he loved so much.  (as compiled on the Eric Walker website)

Bio

When Australian band Dingo Landlord moved from Cape Cockburn (NT, Australia, near Croker Island) to Amsterdam (Holland) in search for fame, fortune, drugs, booze and loose women, they instantly found a couple of these aspirations to have come true upon arrival. (Read loose women, booze and drugs a plenty.) Ironically, just after two weeks in Holland they met Holistic healer Raoulfo Arnolfolonzo who convinced them to end their grievous ways by making them renounce drugs and alcohol altogether. This, sadly, made the lose interest in women as well. Clean and sober and with too much time on their hands they met up with Brit guitarist Raedolph Huffington and formed the band Whipping Pole (now with Nigel St. Davids only on vocal duties instead of 6 strings as well). Their first album "Eat The Meat" was not received well by just about anybody and they were swiftly dropped by their management and the record subsequently was never released. Quickly they formed a new band EcP79 (same line up, different name) and went to work on their soon to be finished next album and current masterpiece “When The Win Was One”. Hopefully this will lead to some proper management representation in the future and who knows, maybe even the fulfillment of their remaining aspirations.  (per the band's website).

"I find this band's music exceedingly interesting to listen to."  - Lee

The Scaramanga Six ..

Lunging precariously into their 20th year of existence, rock noir specialists THE SCARAMANGA SIX have deemed it a reasonably good idea to accept two gig invitations in one day, despite being more than old enough to know better. This ludicrous day is fast approaching, for the date of it is:

SATURDAY 31st JANUARY 2015

On this day, The Six will (dis)grace the stage at these events:

1.       WINTERFEST at The Bristol Inn, CLEVEDON (N. Somerset)

An all-day spectacular event featuring 2 stages of music from a wealth of bands from the Westcountry and beyond. The Scaramanga Six will be onstage at approx. 4pm. What better way to warm the winter cockles at this time of year?

More details on the facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/624505577661915/

2.       MUTHER’S STUDIO (Conservatory Venue), BIRMINGHAM

A very special fundraiser gig for Sir Tim Smith at this intimate and excellent venue in the city. A few bands on during the night + DJs/general partying, but I believe The Scaramanga Six should be on at 9pm.

Don’t have the Facebook event to hand, but let us know if you need any more info.

Anyone out there mental enough to consider doing both of these and joining The Six in the mad dash up the M5?

See you there!
Regards,
Steve/Paul/Gareth/Julia

Tristan Luhr .

Southern California production company HEADTRAP MUSIC made Tristan's work available to us here at the stream - always an elegant trip-hop / county rock mix!  Thanks to HEADTRAP MUSIC - (Lee-

"Well my home's not in the delta, i'm from Minnesota, way up the river. Summer's hotter than a mother, winter's a cold and lonely shiver. I moved out to Cali in 99' with this message to deliver. It's the new west dirty blues, infused with hip-hop and rock'n'roll. Just some Led Zeppelin and Muddy Waters riffs I stole. All the ladies feel it down below, everybody feel it in they're soul. Cactus Hunters.

"Kinda like if Robbie Robertson went out drinking with Buck Owens and wound up passed out in New Orleans." --Freight Train Boogie Magazine

Cactus Hunters were formed in the Hudson Valley region of New York state around the songwriting of Lance Juckas. Lance along with Fred Scribner (Gavin DeGraw, Little Sammy Davis, Levon Helm, Delbert McClinton) and Aaron Hurwitz (The Band, Rick Danko, Mercury Rev, Levon Helm, Dave Brubeck) recorded a twelve song album outside of Woodstock, New York. The Cactus Hunters self-titled debut album was released on Rustic Records in October 2003.

The Cactus Hunters debut album received critical praise and was generously embraced by radio stations ranging from country to alternative college radio. And, thanks in part to word of mouth and devoted fans and DJs, the debut Cactus Hunters album continues to grow in popularity along with their fan-base throughout Europe and Japan. The debut album "Cactus Hunters" charted on the AMA, FAR, and Roots Rock charts.

With the release of their second album titled "Something Gone," the Cactus Hunters once again conjure a collection of songs that weld together elements and inspiration from rock and roll, country, folk, roots, psychedelia, rockabilly, blues, 60s-garage, and the rich history and tradition of the great Americana songbook.

Mumpsy.

The Florida based musical group known as Mumpsy all seem to gravitate towards the melodies of early and mid-sixties Brit Pop bands, namely The Kinks and The Beatles. Punk expression lends itself via the Misfits and The Stooges, and that's what adds to the excitement of seeing Mumpsy play; you never know which side of the muse they'll be enticing.

Band members: Jeff Ilgenfritz, Waylon Thornton, Al Ruiz, Chris Rae
