VENGER'S DIARY - Metal

I am the guitarist known as Shadow Venger . This is my side project entitled Venger's Diary. I use this project to express the things I can't talk about to anyone, like a diary. These songs are literally my diary. I've been making these diary songs in secret since I was 14 and have hundreds of them sitting on tapes under my bed. In late 2009, I decided to put them up here. I'm still not sure why.

I hope that my music can give comfort or inspiration to those people who need it most, just like bands like Megadeth and Skid Row did for me. (as compiled on Shadow Venger's website)

BEN FOSTER - Acoustic / Folk / Rock

I started writing and performing acoustically after the collapse of an old band and the difficulties in starting up a new one. I generally play a lot of quite laid back, folk rock stuff with a lot of influences from singer-songwriters from the 60's and 70's; Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits in particular. I like to build music out of simple chords and then working them until something sounds alright, and I do like to through in some harmonica here and there when it takes my fancy. I'm a little bit of a country bum in a way, having lived in a small village in Oxfordshire most of my life, and I feel this influences how I write, slowing down my pace a little. I am currently recording fairly often whilst looking for plenty of gigs in the coming months...as compiled on the bands website)

BEEN OBSCENE - Alternative Psychedelic Rock

Been Obscene, founded 2008 in Salzburg, Austria, are tremendous versatile. Hypnotic Stoner Rock with Pop elements? Psychedelic Post Rock? Alternative progressive vibe? They inweave new song structures with classics and create their own universe.

Night O’Mine is the second album of the quartet, signed by Elektrohasch Records since their debut The Magic Table Dance in 2010. It is more gloomy and mystical than their debut. More experienced, detached and filigree. Rocking parts with spacy breaks and mosh parts mixed up with easy sound walls. On top a brilliant voice, which always modulates perfectly to the different atmospheres of the songs.
Music-wise as well as lyric-wise Night O’Mine leads through the schizophrenia of the night with its combined abyss and climax of human beings. Driving riffs meet melancholic interludes, classic 4/4 beats complex rhythms and arrangements. A powerful, but sentimental up and down, that always finds its salvation in wonderful refrains. Jen Gloeckner ..

Jen Gloeckner
6:44 AM (6 hours ago)

Hi Everyone!

It has been quite some time since I have sent out an update, sorry for the silence!
This has been mainly due to a year+ long back injury, that has prevented me from
doing much of anything musically. As things gradually heal, I am more and more
able to work on my new record! I will update you periodically on the progress of that.
You can also hook up with me at Facebook at my music page,
https://www.facebook.com/jengloecknermusic and my personal page,
https://www.facebook.com/jen.gloeckner

Recently I have been blessed to be working on a few songs for John Ashton from
The Psychedelic Furs, for his new solo project, Satellite Paradiso. This is a really
cool project which features members from the bands of David Bowie, Lou Reed,
Iggy Pop, Mercury Rev, The Psychedelic Furs, and many more! John also just
started his Pledge Music campaign, so if you are interested in contributing to this
project, you can do so at http://bit.ly/K8gHF7

And on a bitter sweet note, my song "Haunt You" will be included in the last movie
of one of my favorite actresses, the late Brittany Murphy. The movie is called
"Something Wicked" and should be released later this year.

Thank you so much for your support, and I promise that there will be much less
silence from me in 2014!

Love,

Jen

Gordon Duthie ..

Gordon Duthie
GORDON DUTHIE TAKES COMEDY DETOUR ON ROUTE TO NEXT MUSIC PROJECT
ABERDEENSHIRE MUSIC ARTIST SPOOFS RADIO, PODCASTS, ADVERTS AND HIMSELF
Aberdeenshire music artist - Gordon Duthie - has released an audio comedy show on his website which spoofs syndicated radio, podcasts, adverts / commercials and his artistic persona.  The "The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast - North East Radio" is available as a free download and reveals another side to Gordon's creative writing versatility.  This change of direction takes some influence from his past music projects - "Shire and City" and "Multimedia Monster" - and hints at a future deviation from his perceived melancholy sound.

The premise of the show is as follows:  A week ago today (13th of January) in 1913 the first radio broadcast was transmitted from The Metropolitan Opera House in New York, showcasing performances of the classic Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci operas.  Today, internet troll - Johan "The Code" Cracker - breaks new ground by hosting the "The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcastwhich now means "you don't need a screen to laugh at a deluded dream".  Inspired by the revolving media circus door of disposable reality culture, "The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast" provides a "regular reality hilarity fix" within the previously untapped radio broadcast market, moving away from the traditional public humiliation format of reality television.  In this featured episode, Johan has somehow found a failed pilot radio show produced by North East Radio, who are the Aberdeen / Aberdeenshire arm of a UK wide syndicated radio network owned by a multinational media company.  The failed pilot also had an unlikely host, the struggling Scottish music artist Gordon Duthie, who had accepted a shock offer to host this new show after finding himself broke, disillusioned and out of ideas.  A recipe for disaster which provoked one of Johan's signature catchpharses;  "Epic Reality Radio Fail Alert!"

Running Order:

1. The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast - North East Radio
2. “The Odor Neutralizer Grenade” Commercial
3. Interview with Zac Radke – Music’s Money Making Machine
4. “Dude I Hate My Rich Dad” Movie Trailer
5. North East News
6. A Chat with Clichy about Football
7. “Cash for Blow” Commercial
8. A Very Scottish Christmas
9. Will We Ever Hear from Him Again?
10. “Shave(r) Grater” Commercial

"The Epic Reality Radio Fails Podcast - North East Radio" features a multinational cast and can also be streamed on sites such as SoundCloud and YouTube.

About Gordon Duthie

Gordon began producing his self-funded debut album - "Shire and City" - seriously in 2008 and it was released to the general public in July 2012. The album attracted critical praise from music journalists for it's original and eclectic style and was featured on multinational media outlets such as STVThe Scotsman and Altsounds as well as local media publications such as the Evening Express and numerous newspapers distributed across North East Scotland by Johnston Press.
Gordon has appeared as the featured guest on both Waves Radio and Spark Sunderland which are FM Radio Stations in the UK. Songs from "Shire and City" have also received FM radio airplay across the world including the UK, USA, Canada, Italy and so on.

Gordon began writing and preparing his second music project immediately after the release of "Shire and City". One of the principle aims of the project was to improve the production level of the songs. To do this he invested in some new high level equipment and spent a day at Steve Mason's (The Beta Band King Biscuit Time / Black Affair) KronK Studio in Fife to learn new production techniques.

Released in August 2013, "Multimedia Monster" has attracted critical praise from music journalists for it's original and eclectic style and has been featured in multinational media outlets such as The Daily Record. Songs from "Multimedia Monster" have also received radio airplay globally, appearing on broadcasts such as Jim Gellatly's Amazing Radio show.

FAT TREE - Alternative / Jam/rock / Funky

What happens when you take the musical freedom of Dave Matthews Band, the positive rock energy from 311, the intelligent quirks of Ben Folds, the melodic funk of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the jazz-pop finesse and technicality of Herbie Hancock, the simple power of Jason Mraz, the rock riffs of Lynard Skynard and a splash of Bob Marley?
You would probably get something that sounds like Fat Tree. With that foundation of myriad influences, they have built a truly unique and engaging sound of their own.  Fat Tree is comprised of brothers Eric, Kyle, and Samuel Jacobs, and their long time friend Sam Bischof. They built a history together in the years they grew up in Alamogordo, NM, and that history shines through in their music, having roots in the past and branches into the future.
Fat Tree. A band that can rock with the hardest, chill with the coolest, impress your music instructor, and not take themselves too seriously! Old, young, and everyone in-between have been rallying around this unique band since their inception in early 2008. Their high energy and fun filled shows draw people from all facets of life. GOOEY - Chicago Power Pop

"My name is Juan.  I love all kinds of music. I like to write songs.
John is my friend. He plays a lot of instruments. He hears music in his head.
A long time ago, I told John that I was learning to play the guitar. He told me to go away.
A few years later, I told John that I was writing songs. He told me that he was busy.
I forgot to mention that John is grumpy.
Once in a while, I would pick up the guitar when John was around and I would play something that I had written.
John would pretend that he wasn’t listening. I knew that he was.
One day John told me that he liked my songs and that we should record them.
These are my songs.
This is our band.
This is Gooey." (as compiled on the bands website)

LEFTOVER SALMON - Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass

The legend of Leftover Salmon begins in October 1985 when band leader, co-founder, singer, guitarist and washboard player Vince Herman left his home in Morgantown, WV with a buddy in search of that Rocky Mountain High. “The day that I arrived in Boulder” recalls Herman, “we literally drove in off the highway, parked the car, saw a sign at a bar that said ‘Bluegrass’, went in there and it was Drew playing with the Left Hand String Band; like the moment we got to town.

Some would call this fate, others coincidence, either way this moment would change the lives of Herman, Emmitt and a whole lot of other people. (as compiled on the bands website)

ZOMBIES OF THE STRATOSPHERE - Indie / Pop / Rock

Our heroes met at University, where they were bitter rivals. Years later, they found themselves in New York City, beavering away in dusty corners of the Great Media Behemoth: J put in time at a literary agency and studied the mystical art of making records while slaving as a sound engineer at various hip recording studios about town, while A avoided sunlight as a film archivist and curator at a broadcasting museum. Both had unsatisfying tenures in doomed rock combos where they nevertheless honed their musical skills. Each fancied himself a songwriter in the classic pop mode and pursued the elusive art with uncommon zeal, resting only for massive infusions of film noir and comic books.
It was inevitable that they join forces and continue in the tradition of their idols Ray Davies, Elvis Costello, and Brian Wilson, i.e., churning out gem-like compositions with maddeningly infectious tunes and obscure lyrics while failing to deal with their crippling emotional problems.

New album, "Ordinary People" available for download October 1, 2010 on Amazon, iTunes, and other sites!
"Zombies are big these days in pop culture, and if there were any justice in the world the Zombies of the Stratosphere would be as well. This NYC band follows up their excellent 2007 debut The Well-Mannered Look with another collection of quality tunes suffused with a mid-to-late 60s Britpop sensibility"- Absolute Powerpop 10-18-10 (as compiled on the bands website)
