Reviews of Lee's interview with Nancy Deedrick..

Lee had the opportunity to interview the creator of the website: THE GREAT HOLLYWOOD HANGOVER for his show titled the Cosmic Egg Farm.  Ms. Nancy Deedrick is the author of the website that chronicles the people, places, and things on the Sunset Strip in the late sixties through the mid-seventies, a magical time, and, a magical place...  The website contains many stories and thoughts, shared by the people who were actually there.   The Whiskey Go Go, The Roxy, The London Fog, the Classic Cat, the Body Shop.  Along with notable stories of rockstars on the rise, and, less notable rockers who have, perhaps, fallen from view.  Relevant, honest, and interesting!

Callers to the station have rated this interview very positive.   Hearing the audio tape Nancy recorded while Joe Cocker gets tossed out of a motel room in Hollywood appears to be our listeners highlight moment.  Thanks for all the great comments on this Cosmic Egg Farm show.   Oh, and of course there were some complaints about Lee not starting the show with the traditional barrage of barn yard animals from "the farm", however, we assure you, no doubt they will make an appearance in the next episode of The Cosmic Egg Farm.   We are grateful to play this interview here on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream!

Darryl said that all the hippies lived on top of the buildings down Sunset, everything changed the day the Buffalo Springfield song hit the airwaves , what a field day for the heat. The Sheepdogs on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ..

Band Info

The Sheepdogs built their name on hard work and determination.  Having funded their first three albums and early years of touring on their own, this rock and roll band’s momentum began to build exponentially with the release of the 2010 album, Learn & Burn. The band would go on to win three 2012 JUNO Awards (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy): New Group of the Year, Single of the Year and Rock Album of the Year.  With a list of accolades this impressive the band is on the brink of engaging fans on a wider scale.

The Sheepdogs will do just that with the release of their new self-titled album, produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney and Austin Scaggs, which will genuinely introduce them to the U.S. and beyond.

Hailing from the small Canadian town of Saskatoon, SK, The Sheepdogs won an international competition in 2011 securing them the cover of Rolling Stone, making the group the first unsigned band to appear on its front page. The win, decided by 1.5 million public votes, also scored them a record deal with Atlantic, which offered up a new EP from the band, Five Easy Pieces, in August 2011.

After the band was introduced to Carney at Petty Fest in New York last year, he immediately began offering ideas for The Sheepdogs next album (“He seemed strangely passionate about it,” Currie notes). The hope was that Carney could actually produce the album. In January, Carney invited the band to the studio, where they culled together old material and quickly began laying down new ideas.

Smoke Fish on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ..

Wake Up lyrics by Smoke Fish...

You say you got to go your way
You gotta carry on
And I say stay don’t play hey!
You gotta move on
It’s a beautiful world just
Shine on
You’ve got places to go
Just go just carry on…
You got the time to choose or lose
You’ve gotta Wake Up
One day you fall and boom you’re doomed
You’ve gotta Wake Up
You say you got to explore the waves
You gotta sail on
And I say stay hey don’t fade away
You gotta float on
It’s a beautiful world just keep on
Shining through
You’ve got places to see
Just leave just carry on…
You got the time to choose or lose
You’ve gotta Wake Up
One day you fall and boom you’re doomed
You’ve gotta Wake Up

Pass of Era on the commercial free Pluto Radio stream ..

Like all music you and I have ever enjoyed, Pass of Era seeks to move you from this world into the visceral realm of human emotion - a place where you can fully immerse yourself in a journey that builds it's own reality as time moves forward. That feeling of discovery and passion is why we are here - to write - to perform - to listen - to share. This is the world built by three young musicians from Edmonton, Alberta. This is the story of Pass of Era.
The group is currently nearing the release of their debut EP titled "The Scripted Dream" (slated for a January, 2011 release) whilst beginning work on their first full length concept album and preparing to hit the scene and bring their story to the stage.

Paul E. Phonics ..

http://www.5thestatemusic.com/paul-e-phonics.html

Picture
Paul E. Phonics is a musical alter ego of Canadian Paul McCormick, a side of the musician that evolved from his fondness for New Wave, Electronica, Progressive Rock, Industrial Rock and Film Scores.  The combination of these influences has led to a sound that is utterly unique with each song becoming the equivalent of a short film in its own right with abstract, poetic lyrics revealing the plot like some kind of secret code.
McCormick left his homeland in 2000 in search of new musical inspiration ending up in Berlin, Germany.  After years of playing in various bands and performing alone with his acoustic guitar in the smaller cafés and clubs of the city, he decided in 2009 to take a different approach and awaken some aspects of his musical personality that had been dormant for years.  The result is "Paul E. Phonics" - a singer/songwriter for the 21st century - essentially a one man band with Paul on keyboards and vocals accompanied by his laptop.

Paul E Phonics = Shock and Awe ..

Dear friends and fans,

after a slow start to the year I am finally pleased to announce the release of "Shock & Awe (2013)", a brand new version of the title track of the 2010 EP "Shock & Awe". The official release date is June 4th but I want you all to know ahead of time that it is already available at www.5thestaterecords.com

Because I've given away a lot of free music in the past, I've decided to try something a bit different with this one. You can still get it for free, but it is actually a "Pay if you want" setup. So if you like it and feel that it's worth something you can "donate" a bit and help support real indie music.

There is also a video for this one that you can check out on the YouTube channel.

I hope 2013 is going well for all of you. Enjoy the music and have a great summer!

Greetings from Berlin,

Paul
