Lithuanian rock band The Skys is the
leading Lithuanian rock scene band. It is also the most recognized
Lithuanian band abroad. After frequent changes in line up The Skys are:
The Sheepdogs built their name on hard work and determination.
Having funded their first three albums and early years of touring on
their own, this rock and roll band’s momentum began to build
exponentially with the release of the 2010 album, Learn & Burn.
The band would go on to win three 2012 JUNO Awards (the Canadian
equivalent of a Grammy): New Group of the Year, Single of the Year and
Rock Album of the Year. With a list of accolades this impressive the
band is on the brink of engaging fans on a wider scale.
The Sheepdogs will do just that with the release of their new
self-titled album, produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney and Austin
Scaggs, which will genuinely introduce them to the U.S. and beyond.
Hailing from the small Canadian town of Saskatoon, SK, The Sheepdogs
won an international competition in 2011 securing them the cover of Rolling Stone,
making the group the first unsigned band to appear on its front page.
The win, decided by 1.5 million public votes, also scored them a record
deal with Atlantic, which offered up a new EP from the band, Five Easy Pieces, in August 2011.
After the band was introduced to Carney at Petty Fest in New York
last year, he immediately began offering ideas for The Sheepdogs next
album (“He seemed strangely passionate about it,” Currie notes). The
hope was that Carney could actually produce the album. In January,
Carney invited the band to the studio, where they culled together old
material and quickly began laying down new ideas.
Wake Up lyrics by Smoke Fish...
You say you got to go your way
You gotta carry on
And I say stay don’t play hey!
You gotta move on
It’s a beautiful world just
Shine on
You’ve got places to go
Just go just carry on…
You got the time to choose or lose
You’ve gotta Wake Up
One day you fall and boom you’re doomed
You’ve gotta Wake Up
You say you got to explore the waves
You gotta sail on
And I say stay hey don’t fade away
You gotta float on
It’s a beautiful world just keep on
Shining through
You’ve got places to see
Just leave just carry on…
You got the time to choose or lose
You’ve gotta Wake Up
One day you fall and boom you’re doomed
You’ve gotta Wake Up
Like all music you and I have ever enjoyed, Pass of Era seeks to move
you from this world into the visceral realm of human emotion - a place
where you can fully immerse yourself in a journey that builds it's own
reality as time moves forward. That feeling of discovery and passion is
why we are here - to write - to perform - to listen - to share. This is
the world built by three young musicians from Edmonton, Alberta. This is
the story of Pass of Era.
The group is currently nearing the release of their debut EP titled
"The Scripted Dream" (slated for a January, 2011 release) whilst
beginning work on their first full length concept album and preparing to
hit the scene and bring their story to the stage.

The incendiary first single from Dreams of Reason’s forthcoming Death
Card Dance album hits the airwaves like a sonic tsunami, right before
the holiday season. “Nothing says peace and love like a good commentary
on the G20 riots,” laughs guitarist Alex Whitcombe. “In all honesty, the
song is meant to be a rally cry for life, for love, for sport; whatever
your cause happens to be. So there’s really no better time than the
present to release it.”
Finding themselves without a vocalist, following a successful run of
summer performances, left the band in need of a rallying cry themselves.
“We’d just finished opening for Korn, Billy Talent, Volbeat and for the
first time we didn’t know what we were going to do next,” states
bassist Trevor Landmark. “We’re really hoping those shows and the
appearance with Big Wreck will help pave the way to some major tour
support slots. Possibly an industry showcase like Canadian Music Week as
well,” adds drummer Shand Munro.
Resilient as ever, Dreams of Reason recruited the services of long-time
friend and ex-Nickelback vocalist, Scott Rocker to complete work on
Death Card Dance. “I can’t wait to hit the road with the guys and really
pick up where they left off this summer. DOR has managed to build a
strong, dedicated following so I’m really looking forward to the next
phase of this adventure. Maybe rock a theater or a stadium in support of
some of our heroes.” More about this band at www.dreamsofreason.com

Paul E.
Phonics is a musical alter ego of Canadian Paul McCormick, a side of the
musician that evolved from his fondness for New Wave, Electronica,
Progressive Rock, Industrial Rock and Film Scores. The combination of
these influences has led to a sound that is utterly unique with each
song becoming the equivalent of a short film in its own right with
abstract, poetic lyrics revealing the plot like some kind of secret
code.
McCormick left his homeland in 2000 in search of new
musical inspiration ending up in Berlin, Germany. After years of
playing in various bands and performing alone with his acoustic guitar
in the smaller cafés and clubs of the city, he decided in 2009 to take a
different approach and awaken some aspects of his musical personality
that had been dormant for years. The result is "Paul E. Phonics" - a
singer/songwriter for the 21st century - essentially a one man band with Paul on keyboards and vocals accompanied by his laptop.

Since their signing to Canada's Mint Records in 2008, the
band has released two critically acclaimed full length albums (2010's
How Come I'm Dead, and 2009's Volcano, Bloody Volcano). The band's
releases have debuted at #1 on Canadian college charts, and earned them a
'Hot Track of the Week' selection in Rolling Stone Magazine (Chinatown
Bus), an iTunes track of the week selection (Start Making Sense), and
won 'Album of the Year' at the 2010 Edmonton Music Awards (for How Come
I'm Dead?).
(per Wicki.. ) The Kings of Frog Island are a stoner rock collective drawing from psychedelic, stoner, and retro rock traditions. The Kings of Frog Island formed in Leicester, England (hence Frog Island) in 2003, as a collaboration[1] between guitarist and producer Mark Buteux along with R. "Doj" Watson, a founding member of the grunge/punk group Scum Pups[2] and Mat Bethancourt, of the rock bands Josiah and The Beginning. The band released their debut, self titled album with German-based Elektrohasch Records[3]
in 2005. Work on the debut album involved some input from guest artists
associated with members of the band's musical past, most notably,
Matthew (Midge) Day of Scum Pups.[4]
Mathew Bethancourt left The Kings Of Frog Island in 2010 to concentrate
on Cherry Choke, while Mark Buteux and Roger ‘Doj’ Watson continue work
on tracks for a fourth album with The Kings of Frog Island.
Review by HollywoodBands.comSo,
we all agree that Hollywood is fun. All the bands are here to entertain
us, and we love their unique styles. But, once in a while, one must
ask "who are the best bands around here?". Once a while, we have to
become critiques and analyze their music part by part.
"Hefexor is certainly a divergence from conformity. A great example of why the commercial free Pluto radio stream is relevant in the world of streaming radio.. Also, you've got to dig what Soundcloud's able to do for musicians.." - Lee
after
a slow start to the year I am finally pleased to announce the release
of "Shock & Awe (2013)", a brand new version of the title track of
the 2010 EP "Shock & Awe". The official release date is June 4th but I want you all to know ahead of time that it is already available at www.5thestaterecords.com
Because I've given away a lot of free music in the past, I've decided to
try something a bit different with this one. You can still get it for
free, but it is actually a "Pay if you want" setup. So if you like it
and feel that it's worth something you can "donate" a bit and help
support real indie music.
There is also a video for this one that you can check out on the YouTube channel.
I hope 2013 is going well for all of you. Enjoy the music and have a great summer!

The Hillmisters formed as an emerging friendship, fellow spirits
looking to make shimmering alternative pop sounds like those which
excited them so. A joyous sound of noisy, melodic, messy guitar pop with
healthy doses of feedback and experimentation. It is bands like The
Velvet Underground, The Kinks, The 13th Floor Elevators that are all
staple diets for these guys, but influences are certainly far ranging.
Arising from Southend in Essex the magic is between the eyes, the sun
and moon.
Dave Armo was born and raised in the San
Francisco Bay Area. At the age of 5, his parents gave him a Bruce
Springsteen album for Christmas which chartered his course. Dave's
songwriting has become an endless endeavor which continues to produce
new sounds for an ever-expanding catalog that is marked by themes of
hope and redemption. Fans are known to bring homemade cookies to his
live shows, which is something Dave does not understand, but greatly
appreciates. In 2004, he released his debut album "Late Night
Conversations." Shortly thereafter his song "Mercy Me" was selected to
be included on Quickstar Productions' compilation of up and coming West
Coast Songwriters. In 2005, Dave began diverting funds from his graduate
student loans to record his second album, "A Leaf In The Breezeway,"
released in December, 2007. A tour in support of the new album placed
Dave in venues across the country during which Deli Magazine declared:
"the honesty in his songwriting and delivery seem so grounded in a
genuine personality." Dave's third album, "Poets On The Wall" was
released in April 2013 and features 12 new songs, several of which are
currently in rotation on European radio stations. Dave lives and works
in Los Angeles, California.
