Notes on musical life.

Add caption

Producing the Pluto Radio commercial free music stream is a lot.  I am happy to do so.  I love the bands we play.  I am fortunate to build a "culture" and have those involved care about me...  The musical diversity I am able to farm is absolutely amazing!  I totally dig the vibe of the station!  However, we are experiencing pressure from "outside" influences to change, if not "rid" the internet of what we do...  Well, I say Pluto Radio will play the music of those who deserve to be heard no matter what the personal cost.  I thank any/all listeners for tuning us in.., I thank any/all who assist in making this amazing stream possible as well...  Yes, I rant, perhaps, all too often, about the bullshit life corporate America breeds - but, it is bullshit, and I should not hesitate to say so!  We should neither listen to what they choke us with in popular media.  Pluto Radio is a non-conforming stream of brilliant music from bands deserving to be heard.  We play music that is diverse and non-pushed.  Just listen to the commercial free Pluto Radio stream and float down the Zen river of new musical life from the inter planetary perspective.  LOVE YOU, WHO DARE TO LISTEN!

My best from the great American desert.

ABSENT ME - Alternative / Progressive / Rock

Absent Me is a 4 man Progressive rock band from Sacramento Ca. In 2002, the jazz sound was injected with the addition of Job(bass), only to complete the ultimate capabilities in 2004 when Don(drums) joined to write and record all new music for a full length L.P., entitled "Hate To Wake You".

"It's a one in a million occurrence to be "wowed" from the start to finish of an album. The gentlemen of Absent Me have done this, and then some with their debut release, "Hate to Wake You".........Powerslave (as compiled on the bands website)

RED PLASTIC BUDDHA - Melodic, Wall of Sound Psychedelia

Neo-psychedelic renegades, Chicago's Red Plastic Buddha live in that half-light between the flower power of Carnaby Street and the darkness of an LSD trip gone wrong. Their music layers guitars, keyboards, and wave upon wave of vocal harmonies over insistent rhythms to create a psychedelic experience that goes far beyond mere imitation of their influences.
"We've had a lot of fun since releasing our debut CD" says frontman Tim Ferguson. "We've had a lot of fun opportunities come our way and playing some of the festivals has been a blast. We've also been fortunate enough to be playing in a city with a great psychedelic following. In June, we'll be heading back to the studio to record the follow up and we're very excited to show our fans the new material." 9as compiled on the bands website)

http://leenegin.com/

"LEE NEGIN brilliantly defines a musical realm that is his alone.  He effortlessly forges through the uncharted waters of musical zen and cleverly orchestrates sound into a vibrant, visceral experience.  Mr. Negin is a savvy magician welding a maestro's baton, a mystical boatsman guiding the listener on an epic adventure through undiscovered sonic terrain.   His latest work, Wu Wei, is a quixotical journey where East meets West in a whimsical - yet relevent - spectrum of sound.  We are grateful to play the music of LEE NEGIN on our commercial free radio stream at Pluto Radio.

COUNTRY ROCKIN' REBELS - Country / Blues / Rock 'n Roll

"Too Rock for Country, Too Country for Rock "
Up from a dusty California horizon, slinging guitars and riding old cars, rise the Country Rockin' Rebels. The Rebels mix old school lyrical charm, with hot greasy guitar and a solid rhythm.  Kid from Minnesota and kid from Virginia meet out west and make music under the bright California sunshine. Inspired by Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, the Hanks Three and The White Stripes the Rebels mix the Bakersfield country boogie with down home southern blues and rock. (as compiled on the bands website)

BUDDHA SENTENZA - Experimental / Jam Band

After a seemingly random sonic collision over the city of Heidelberg in late 2008, the constellation of *Buddha Sentenza* began to form during the darkest hours of that cold and silent winter. Deep under the earth, in the hidden bowels of the Klonlabor tunnel complex, the searing strings and pounding drums condensed rapidly to form a nebulous cloud of loosely jammed, spaced-out, rocking riffs.
Rotating freely around some of the most ancient soundscapes – from the astral end of the Pink Floyd to the depths of galaxies such as Black Sabbath – Buddha Sentenza has continued to expand, drawing energy from contemporary constellations as well. Thus, its elements follow the trail of early rock psychonauts and modern riffrockers alike, fusing droning riffs, screaming solos and cosmic harmonies into an instrumental sound experience that defies any strict genre boundaries. The result is a texture that combines the raw massiveness of rock with the infinite possibilities of outer space. (as compiled on the bands website)

BILLY CONNALLY - The Hand That Rocks The Guitar!

For three decades, his axe has been in hand, sharpening a fine edge to his musical skills. Billy Connally has created his own blend of hard guitar rock, neo-grunge, and post modern rock. He describes his music as “Heavy Grooving Atmospheric Guitar Rock” and has been recognized as a cross between Joe Satriani and Alice in Chains. For the casual listener and musical connoisseur alike, listening to Billy's debut CD release, “The Silent Canvas,” is anything but silent. Indeed, it is an audio tapestry for the listener who can appreciate a sophisticated venture into hard rock impressionism. (as compiled on the bands website)

PAUL E PHONICS' new single The Summer (That Never Was)

Hi Lee,

hope you're doing well. I just want to let you know that I'm releasing a new single this week. It's called "The Summer (That Never Was)" and it was inspired by the miserable weather that hit most of Europe this year. It's also got a "real" video and the song will be available as a free download from www.paul-e-phonics.com as of Thursday Sept. 8, 2011.

The song is attached and you can check out the label page to watch the video and get more info www.5thestatemusic.com/paul-e-phonics.html

As usual, I am the sole rights holder and you have my permission to use the song and video on Pluto Radio in any way you see fit. I'd be very grateful if you could post a little blurb about it on the Pluto Radio homepage.

Thanks.

Greetings from Berlin!P

PAUL E. PHONICS is both a guest host and a featured artist on the commercial Pluto Radio stream.  His music is adventurous, melodic, and barbed.  Pluto Radio is dedicated to the promotion of unique talent from across the planet, and, yes, Paul E. Phonics deserves to be heard!
