THE SCARY MONDELOS - Crawling, Slimy Things Terror-Bent on Destroying the World!

It has been a steady dose of gritty hard to swallow truths and guitar driven rock and roll songs from day one.

The band was reformed after the collapse of a punk band from Dallas called SkateAroundChippy, where half the members moved on to create The Beat Doll
s and the other half restarted the Mondelos.   The first chapter of the Mondelos had been abandoned in '99 after the suicide of original drummer Chris Lawson. Sadly, the original bassist, Mario Espinosa, would also die in a car crash years later, leaving only Ramon from the original lineup.  The reincarnation of the band added a second guitar and a higher level of musicianship. After a couple of years of heavy gigging in the great state of Texas, including a monster show at SXSW, the band settled down to record their debut album. Dive Bar Deluxe was available in 2008, but not officially until later on the band’s independent Little Plastic Records label.  As the band continues to gig around Texas, the band and their music will also be featured in the dark indie drama Waterloo Sunset directed by Mark Spacek to be released in 2012. (as compiled on the bands website)
